Noble Collection Cryptex & Bank Key Review. (New key arrived and DVD Journal)

Well I finally managed to secure a Cryptex a while ago and thought it would be cool to do a review. I also picked up a Bank Key but was very upset to receive it with most the gold plating on the upper section rubbed off. I emailed and asked what was up and asked for an exchange. They agreed to exchange it but I had to pay shipping. That pissed me off to no end but I did it and received another Bank Key that was just as badly finished.

Well The Nobel Collection has a habit of being less than honest as they often show pictures of their products that look more accurate than what you receive. Silly as their stuff is very nice. The Grapple Gun and Batarang are good examples.

Well in this case they should have known more about their own pieces as should I. Turns out it's supposed to be like that. In the film the real prop has most the gold rubbed off as it's supposed to be very old. Ooops. Sorry

Now for the Cryptex. Awesome piece. This set is one of the best licensed props out there. The pic on the website is accurate for once and the piece is perfect. Very good deal period.

The Cryptex itself is perfect. I have found is exactly like the film version plus it has the great storage feature. I'd say it 99.999% accurate as I'm sure there is something wrong but I have not found it. It's just incredible.

The box is also awesome. About 97% accurate. They did a great job on it. There are a few minor things but overall it's great.

I do wish they included the writing on the back of the rose plate, but I am working on that. The rose plate is the least accurate part.

Noble Version. I found the pic online:

Re: Noble Collection Cryptex, Bank Key Review. Slight Apology to N.C.

Thanks for posting your review I was looking at getting one of those cryptex from Noble Collection.
The key was on sale wasn't it?
It is good to hear you are happy with it.

Yes the key is $10 + $5 for shipping. It's a pretty sweet deal for $15. Mine is in storage but I think the only thing that's missing is the little loops at the top. Since it's so cheap I ordered a second on to try and add those. I want a spare in case I trash it. Need to remove the "letter opener" blade as well.

I'll add a more detailed review when I get the new one.

They had a $300 one but I don't see it anywhere anymore.

Re: Noble Collection Cryptex & Bank Key Review. (New Key Arrived) )

Well my new key arrived and after two keys (the first of which was sent back) that both had most the gold rubbed off, then discovering it's supposed to be that way, this new key has perfect and complete gold.

So now I have one with it mostly rubbed off (in storage so no pics) and one with a perfect but inaccurate finish.

I am wondering if they changed it due to customer complaints. When I spoke with them the first time they never mentioned it was supposed to be that way. That would have saved us both time and money. Since it's clearly made to match the movie, there is no way it's accidentally rubbed off just like in the film, I am wondering if they changed it due to customer complaints.

Okay the writing on the side is correct:

The side with the address has it going the wrong way and needs to have that side of the key roughed up, some gray and black paint added:

The side with the letter opener obviously does not have the laser dots. I will remove the letter opener and add the dots. So far it's not quite as easy as it looks. Unscrewing the screw does not release the letter opener blade.

The transition piece between the metal key with the markings and the top cross has the thinner ring next to the cross on the Noble version and the reverse on the film prop.

Also the DVD journal you get in the set with the mini Cryptex is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Over 45 written pages with all kinds of good stuff. I know it's hard to believe but it's very well done.

It just needs to be put in a real leather journal and have the edges rounded.
