Hello everyone, my name is Piper. I joined the forum because I was searching high and low for replica doorknockers from Labyrinth. I'll make a post about the knockers I bought when I get them. I love being able to talk with people who are as enthiusiastic about props and costumes as I am.

Hello everyone. My name is Eric and I am very new to the prop and cosplay crowd. I want to dive right in though. I truly fear no project difficulty. There are so many different things I would love to build or sew. Although my skills in both are at a beginners level I am determined to be make the best I can. I hope we can all get along and I'm looking forward to talking with most of you.

My name is Jack, and I just finished an Iron Man mark VI suit out of foam with the help of stealths tutorials, some tips from xrobots, and templates from various artists. It all stemmed last novemberish with a trash can do it yourself mark v iron man suit in another forum.

Apparently it must be working. I will try posting my build thread again and link it here for everyone.

    Howdy folks,

Pleasant evening. I'm Kyle and I live in sunny England. Found the site because of 2 weeks of pretty much non-stop research. I have made an agreement to go with some friends to a comic con in a few years and ever since I have become more than a little obsessed with the idea of cosplay. It's early days but I am getting more and more interested all the time.

I have started by creating my first papercraft dredd helmet! Its just had the first layer of fibreglass and I have to thank this site and its members quite a lot. Thank you all!

Thought it was time to sign up and get involved. I figure its a whole new world!

    Greetings!
I am...shocked. Really. I have no idea why it took me so many years to stumble across this site. I must've been in a coma or something...possessed, maybe. Aside from that mystery though, I'm Keseleth, or Kes, as you will.

Costumes and props have always been a hobby of mine. Usually from film, TV, and the odd video game, but sometimes from comics and novels too. If I could figure out how to make a living at it, I would! (brainstorming that one). In recent years most of my projects have been Harry Potter related, but I've also done Final Fantasy VII, World of Warcraft, Lobo (the comic), The Crow, Star Wars, and many others my faulty brain can't recall. Of course, I'm also a perfectionist, and failed to take pictures of most of them because I thought they were horrible. One of these days I'll snap some shots of the surviving pieces for an album, but in all honestly I'll most likely forget. Sorry.

Why am I here? Because I Googled Pepakura+Loki+helmet and clicked an interesting link.
Why did I stay? Because I want to, via osmosis, assimilate the collective skill and genius of the true master artists lurking about! I feel like a finger-painting preschooler compared to some of you lot!

Beware, forum-dwellers! Keseleth, lord of absolutely nothing, King of the overly-dramatic (and Asgard in my spare time), walks among you!

Hi everyone, I'm Bryant. It's cool to see so many people interested in the same things I am. I'm really just hoping to learn as much as I can from the community here so I can start making the wild costume monster ideas I have in my head into a reality. Everyone here seems really positive and helpful which makes me hopeful. I'm excited to learn and play!

    Thanks for having me!

    Hello to all members here,

first i must say sorry, if my english is not the best. My schooltime is now 15 years ago and even my english lessons from school. I hope everyone can understand me.

My name is Claudio from Germany and i΄m a great fan of the members, who can make so beautiful things about movie and videogames stuff. My nickname "Lastfirefighter" is because i am a volunteer firefighter in germany.

I hope, i can ( sometimes in the future ) make a replica stuff, that not so bad and ugly.

    Greetings from germany

Hello everybody! I'm a 15 years old french guy (so sorry for my dreadful english) which joined your website for learn more about the replica props. I found your website a few weeks ago when I started to search people that made portal gun replicas (you know, the device in "Portal" to create... portals (:°)). In fact, I decided to make my own build of the famous Aperture Science Handled Portal Device, with almost no experience in the world of Props. x)
I hope you'll help me in this venture, and my language won't be an obstacle!

    Greetings all -

This was one of the sites I looked at while deciding to try and make a Jason mask - my first attempt ever at making a prop replica. I wanted to keep it simple and cheap due to budget constraints.

So here it its. I purchased the latex axe head off of eBay. The blood spatter that came on it is way to fake looking, but I was on a tight budget and wanted to do this as cheaply as possible for my first attempt. The mask blank is NOT that great; it is also the cheapest one I could find that was close to the original.

This is based on the Part 3 mask, but I took some liberties with it in regards to the aged color, damage, and blood.

Thanks to the forum for the tips and examples. I think it turned out pretty good all things considered. Let me know what you think.

    Hello, fellow costumers and makers!

I've been lurking around here on and off for a few years, and finally bit the bullet and joined. Quite frankly, I had intended to join for the the Halloween contest, but due to circumstances beyond my control, the costume didn't get finished in time. But that's OK, because it means I have more time to build a bigger better Angel. (I'll be posting the build so far in a few days, as I finally get the pics I've taken so far cropped and uploaded).

My background: I've been fascinated by costuming since early childhood. A seamstress mother meant I got a custom made costume every year, and I remember making a hat for a witch and wings for an angel costume at age 5 and 6.
I spent 15 years being a horror improv actor and SPFX makeup artist at Bloodview Haunted House, a charity haunt in Ohio. I worked in the makeup department for 12 of those years, learning first from Dick Smith's Monster Makeup Book and eventually from SPFX artists that would go on to work in Hollywood and local movie SPFX departments.
During those years, I collected closets full of costuming. We also worked summers at a local Ren Faire - more costuming. Then there were the props, weapons and other assorted junk. Add in a terrible crafting addiction - I love to make stuff from junk, like tabletop gaming dioramas and hats.
I'm disabled now, so no more running around scaring people; now, I use my makeup and costuming skills elsewhere, like doing trauma makeup for first-responders preparedness drills and zombie walks.

    Current projects:
Doctor Who stuff, mainly. I'm mostly done with a Weeping Angel, inspired by penwiper's excellent costume, and trying to put together a River Song thing - the only thing I'm got made is the hair. Also planned are a few foam latex pieces - a face, neck and chest piece for the Angel, and an expansion to an existing snake face piece to make a Siluruan.

I'm also interested in workarounds, replacements, and creative uses of other junk. The McGyvering of household detritus into screen-accurate or imaginative alt costumes that goes on here is amazing and inspiring.

Greetings, new member here. Nice forums, but I thought I'd get some kind of response to my first post.

Is it not funny or do people not look in older threads? Hopefully nobody thought it was serious.

Anyway, I'll post some non-sarcastic photos of the collection once I get it all situated.

Found the site while searching for Bane costume infos, I'm a proud dad, movie fan and halloween lover. Went as a Death Eater 2 years ago for halloween and this year it'll be stock exchange Bane. Would like to go to Montreal Comiccon next year as Bane too.

My son also likes movies and we are working on a zombie movie together that we shot for his birthday party. We are in editing mode right now.

Hello. I just happened onto this site while researching custom commissions, as I am looking to add to my suit collection. I use the identity to promote community and charitable events, and the common good. I am active in local government which serves as my "not-so-secret" identity. I look forward to seeing what I can find on here.

HI! I'm Kendall from Park City, Utah. I really like the concept of building things, and am in the process of assembling various pieces of Cosplay and building a scale version of a Captain America shield, and going from there. I'm also interested in building original pieces of work and showing them.
