A few new things that have been commissioned recently. And a Steampunk Grenade lol

    Said grenade

Urban Tagger themed Vigilon. urbantaggers.blogspot.com Awesome site for Nerf

Unfinished Dieselpunk Pistol. I like the grips on this one already

Gold nuggets I was thinking about throwing in order boxes. No idea why, but I keep making them with excess epoxy and I gotta do something with them, hehe

    Space Marine Nerf Element

    Maybe space pirate gold?

Detail shot on the element. I love the little scratches, personally.

Ok, more soon, promise. I'll make it my May Resolution

Solo, I really like those water pistol blasters. Nice work.

    They're pretty good sculpts, too.

Some of these sculptors must be heartbroken to see their designs end up in ultra-crappy $1 toys, complete with misaligned seams and lurid, engrish packaging.

    Hey guys

I'm really glad to see some discussions on here concerning the weathering and other tips, I know I've not been able to post much here lately. A lot of this has been do to some work that I've been asked to do, but don't get the opportunity to actually share with everyone. Good stuff to be sure, but not for anyone coming to this thread for new pictures!

So thank you all for picking up the slack and sharing your awesome work. It's been great to check out stuff that's not my own, hehe.

Keep up the great work and I'll have some more photos shortly of the things I've been able to work on in my spare time. I hope it will still be up to snuff

    Hi JA

I'm lovin' this thread too much to let it fizzle, pics or no. I'm glad you like the work we've all put up so far, there are some real good ones.

The pug has gone through a few changes and I'm just painting the laser sight for it prior to modding (the laser mod will be internal so won't effect the paintwork).

    Pics to follow too

Got it off a site online, but also found that they sell them on ebay, etc. Heres a link to one place with a pretty good price - 411Toys: 1 Airsoft: High Quality Spring Powered Luger Style Pistol

    Good luck with it!

Here area few pics of the pug (these are the last progress pics, I promise )

Took a few random component cartons home for experimenting with and discovered this one fits the scope. Chopped a pice off and cut a section from the middle

Cut two little sections out to match the wall in the rail

It fit great and I can't pull it off but was a bit loose so I cut two strips out of a piece of carton (a cutoff from the pieces on the from barrel cover) to fill the space in the rail

Nice and stable now, and I added the maverick part

Here's what it looks like with the sight added (now stripped/sanded and halfway painted)

I'm going to give the silver parts a black wash and distress the rest of the gun with silver touches, then finally add the N7 logo (found a good one I can use ).

Sorry if I keep posting Pre stages, I'm having so much fun I gotta share sometimes. I'll restrict them to finished/almost finished pieces from now on

Yeah, I saw these and thought they would look great all painted up. Had to do a LOT of sanding to get the seams straight, that's for sure. Couldn't get it all, but they ended up looking pretty good, imo.

Can someone tell me why this keeps happening?

I'm using Krylon flat black. I applied the first coat a few days ago, it went on beautifully, no bubbling. Then tonight, it all went to hell. Any ideas what's going wrong?

Possibilities: I live in Toronto, not the warmest, but today was a kind of humid. I'm shaking the Krylon spray can quite well and I store them inside.

I just can't figure out why the first coat went on flawlessly, and only now it's bubbling up. I'm pretty ticked off about it.

are you scuffing up the surface before you paint? Sometimes when paint has nothing to grab on it will shrink creating bubbles. If your having some kind of chemical reaction you might want to try cleaning it with rubbing alcohol.

No I didn't sand it down at all, but as I mentioned, the first coat went on no problem at, no bubbling and I painted the whole thing. It was the coat I gave it yesterday that started to bubble. Weather was mild, slightly humid.

Maybe I should have used an automotive paint.

Probably a combo of moisture on the slick surface of the first coat of paint. You need to do a light sanding after the first coat to make sure the second coat doesn't pull in as it dries (like Ironfett said). That can cause crackle and also bubbles in a lot of cases. Could also be that someone touched the first coat with oily or greasy hands....just thoughts without seeing any photos.

Here's a few new photos from yesterday. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Finished - better photos to come

You know.... if those bubbles could be solidified, that would make for one cool looking detail job.

    Hi aquachromis

The steam punk is a longshot with a 36 shot barrel clip if I'm not mistaken. Not sure what the silencer is, but I've seen it used on another gun somewhere, it might be airsoft.

    v137a

Yep, same here. I was blown away by Jhonson's work and had to do some myself. Looking forward to seeing some of yours

Yeah, if only it was deliberate. Actually, once it dried it wasn't that bad , but I
did some light sanding in those areas anyway just to see if it happens again.
