Jun 10, 2012 - My Twilight Zone "Invader" FINISHED! #1

I wanted to sculpt an Invader from "The Twilight Zone" that was more accurate than the Sideshow Toys version. Here's the build thread:

    http://www.therpf.com/f9/build-threa...figure-134852/

And here's the finished figure, cast and painted:

Shown with the Sideshow version for comparison:

    And the screen-used.

I'm going to start an interest thread for these in the junkyard. Finished pieces and kits.

Can a 1:1 scale replica of Agnes Moorehead be far behind?

Fantastic job here. One of my favourite "monsters" from the series.

Thanks! Technically, it's a "scale" replica. Maybe 1:8 or so. But it's a 1:1 replica of the prop

    Verrry cool!

I'd like to see someone tackle this as a wearable costume!

Did they use a modified toy for the original? Reason I ask, is the mold lines that I can make out in the screen caps.

They were custom made for the show. According to Douglas Heyes, the director of the episode, they were modeled by the makeup department based on a sketch he did that was inspired by the Michelin tire man. They were cast in foam rubber and painted gold, with a split in the back so they could essentially be operated like hand puppets. Very low tech.

The antenna on my figure is made of soldered brass mesh and rods.
