    Oct 10, 2009 - My Sterling E11 conversion...What do you Think? **More pics added post #42** #1

    Hi Guys,
I just thought I would post a few pictures of my Sterling E11 conversion.
    All parts are original.
    Sterling L2A3 SMG
    M38 scope
    Metal cased Henglester
    Cut down 10 Round Mag
    Russrep Cylinders
    Homemade Steel scope rail
    Saberfreaks T-Track
    What do you think?
I am still on the fence about painting everything black or just leaving it as the well used look?
    On with the pix......

    Looks great

Is the trigger guard a bit bent or have you went for the background E-11 look?

Also I would resist the temptation to paint it, it really looks the part as it is weathered and more like an original.

    Cheers Chris

    Hi Chris,

I think the trigger guard must just be bent from use.... Too be honest I hadn't noticed it until you said!
Yeah, I think I'll leave it as is, I kinda like the used look too......

Nice, leave it beaten up.i'm not a fan of the counter and cylinders/wires,mine just has the t track and scope.I have 2 sterlings ,1 as a e11 and 1 as standard i've also built a few from the BBc templates and a few custom, you can't beat a good blaster
This is the only thing us Brits have over are American friends,we can still buy Sterlings that aren't cut to bitsSorry guys, but you have all the other good stuff

It's actually an old spec sterling so it dry fires and field strips down too.....

    A very nice build mate...

Sometimes these blasters can end up looking overworked and a little contrived, but yours looks like a well used piece of weaponry ...

    Congrats and cheers for sharing.

I have to agree, I think they can tend to look too idealized for my liking and I took the stance that the original modelmakers that worked on the OT just threw things together as they never thought it would take off to quite the extent that it has or did.
    Hence my thrown together look.
Thanks again for the kind words.

Don't loose interest! Building these things from scratch is no mean feat to get it right. I am building one from Aluminuim based on the same designs. In fact making he real thing apart from the finance, research and waiting to find the parts is a doddle putting it together in comparison to scratch building one.

Looks awesome just as it is! I'd definitely not paint it. I wished I had never painted my own and looking at yours confirms how great they look in an original state.

It DOES look awesome! I used to have a demilled Sterling, way back. Well, maybe not properly demilled. Anyway, yours knocks the socks off what I had. How much does it weigh?

I was going to chip the paint on counter to weather it a bit and I did the paint like that so it match the other imperfect surfaces. If it looks crap tell me and I'll strip it down and do it smooth. I soak up advice and constructive criticism so bring it on.......
