Thanks!!

Yeah alot of work went into getting that frame hooked up, it was in bad shape.

The picture really doesnt show the scale of it but its 48 inches tall by 36 wide. I know the work that went into creating it was hardcore and the printing is second to none on a heavy stock paper.

I think the run of these was something like 3-4 made.

Hopefully my Rocketpack will have a nice spot beside it soon

Looks very cool.
I wonder if Dave Stevens will ever do another comic.
I was watching the movie the other day, and wondered why didnt they ever make an animated series?
Disney does with every other movie it makes. Oh well. Leave 'em wanting more I guess.

Im not a expert on this, but I believe that he lost the rights to the rocketeer when he sold out to disney back in the day. From what I have heard there have been tries to get something going on a new project (animated or live) but disney just wants to sit on the property and seeminlgy bury it.

I still think that sucks... they'll make umpteen animated sequels like Pocahantas II and the Cinderella II, but they let the Rocketeer wither and die.

OH, and not to stray off topic.... AWESOME poster

Schwing, baby!

I think The Rocketeer tanked at the BO, so that's probably why Disney scrapped it. Too bad they won't sell the property so someone else could make an adult version, if anyone were so inclined.

I think Iยดm gonna cry, that is sooo beautiful !

Now, anyone ever made a Nazi-Version of this ?

I love that Art Deco/art Nouveau 30ies illustration style !

And an edition size of only 3-4 ? Damn, that is really, really tough... is it an original art work or a copy of a production used ?

An adult version? Like what, The C*cketeer ? Ron Jeremy with a rocket-pack...sounds like a great movie to me

But seriously, sweet looking poster and frame; great job on the restoration

Yeah, originally they wanted to make the movie a bit darker... not much but some according to what Dave Stevens told me a couple of years ago. I'm not clear on what rights he owns... I'd assume he could still do comics if he wanted to but when I asked him about that (and again, this was a couple of years ago now) he gave me an odd story about having an idea for it but having some trouble finding someone that would publish it the way he wanted... something like that. I didn't get the vibe he really cares much about pursuing it personally.

Dave and (I believe) Joe wanted to buy the movie back from Disney so they could release either a director's cut or a special edition but Disney won't sell. All Disney has done is license a couple of things for the Medicom figure and the MR helmet.

He said that Disney kept wanting to push the picture to be for kids but, of course, I think the movie turned out great in the end despite the problems. And yeah, it didn't do well though I'm not sure exactly how bad it did at the theater. It's release date fell between T2 and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, both of which had major marketing pushes at the time.

Personally, I'd like to see *something* happen with the franchise. Comics... animation, sequel... anything. I think a tv series would be cool but most networks don't like to do period tv series because of the ongoing costs of finding and making sets and costumes. Animation would be cool but most American animation is too kiddie oriented and the Rocketeer isn't popular enough to pull the ratings to get a show like Batman the Animated Series... I'd rather see a Japanese anime series based on the franchise so it could be a bit more mature than the typical Teen Titans, Ben 10 kinda tv series. That's just my 2 cents

And to get back on topic, the original artwork for the portfolio is relatively small and while I don't know for sure where Mechinyun got that though I suspect I can guess ( ) and if I'm right, I know a lot of love and work went into making the art look great at larger sizes. And great job on the frame restoration as well... the frame really does make it pop!

Your artwork is supercool. I can't believe I missed Rocketeer when it came out. Finally saw it on Sat. Great flick. Wish we could get more.

It's soo cool to see this art work, I just watched it over the weekend again and today theres a topic about it..Strange..

Nice work, and yes a German version with the "Today Europe tomorrow the worrld" slogan would be awesome...

And for the record Atlantis Bombed at the box office and the made an Atlantis-2
perhaps once Iron Man hits the big screen, Disney will get in on the Super hero trend and resurect the Rocketeer..

It may be possible to have a select few posters made in the large format size. Smaller ones are available at the 14x10 size. Dont ask me how I know that... PM me for more info.

But to DVD. A live action big-budget film such as another wonderful Rocketeer film would require would not be a direct-to-DVD release.
