This whole wedding has been a labor of love to prepare for. We were racking our brains trying to come up with a theme that would reflect us. We both come from divorces and our daughters are the same age, 9.

When we thought of the kryotonian theme we wanted to make it cool but not over the top. The first thing we thought was a logo to use throughout the wedding. So I came up with this, our new family crest:


So whenever this symbol appeared, it was clear that it was from our family dubed "The House of Val"

Then the ideas just started pouring out from the announcements and invites to the wedding altar and reception. Everything was very carefully planned and designed with a specific purpose.

Using the crest as a background element was borrowed from DC Comics promotional material. Here's what the announcements look like:

Invitations:
We wanted to go simple, minimal and elegant. Again the family crest is present as well as the Kryptonian text. Since the wedding colors are dark red and silver we thought this would be a great opportunity to have them printed with a metallic red foil stamping. The paper was chosen to reflect the crystal/glacier feel of Krypton



The location for this event definately had to match the theme. We didn't know what to do. But...one of my groomsmen suggested a location for us and when we saw the pictures we had to book it asap.

Absolutely BREATH-TAKING!!! How could we not have it there. Our wedding was in October and we were still able to book it in April for 10-10-10. We got more than lucky on that one.

The Wedding Ceremony and Altar:
Believe it or not my wife found this except from a comic panel depicting a Kryptonian wedding. We found several others similar to it. We joked around about how cool would it be to actualy make this "Jewel of Truth and Honor", then I looked at it and said "I think I can make this", her reply, "DO IT!!!":


So from there I came up with a concept of the alter combining the comic and elements from the Fortress of Solitude from the films:


Here is the end result. An 8-foot diameter Kryptonian Wedding Alter:

Here is how the wedding ceremony unfolded:
The music we used was from the Superman Returns soundtrack, track: How Could You Leave Us. Listen to it, it is beautiful music and at the last 30 seconds is the love theme. PERFECT for her final walk down the isle.

The Bridesmaids walked down from the 4th level, then my fiance walked down with her father.



Then at the bottom of the stairs she walked with our girls to the back of the aisle:


Then she walked the rest of the way down the aisle to the altar:


After our officiant said some words (which I will post later) we had the girls come to the platform. This wasn't just a wedding for husband and wife but for our girls to officially become sisters. So as parents we made vows to them and gave them House of Val neclaces.


Then we were give two Kryptonian Wedding Crystals and placed them into the dome controller:


The dome opened to reveal the wedding rings. The girls retrieved them and handed them to us and we said our vows:
