Rather cunning, dont'cha think?

Ignore the fat guy wearing it. He's, um.........overpaid.

I originally asked my mother to make this for me, since that would be perfect, plus she actually WORKS for the Post Office, so that's just cool all around (for those who don't know, Jayne Cobb received this hat in a package at the PO, from his mother). But her neighbor is better at knitting, so she asked her (to my horror- I wouldn't have asked, and she didn't know details).

It's a little heavy in the tie area, but that's fixable. The earflap shape is off, slightly, but I can live with it. Colors look dead on to me. Bathroom fluorescent light is washing it out.

    A slightly more attractive person:

    [image]http://images.andale.com/f2/115/106/2379504/2007/1/29/Firefly_Jaynes_cap_1967_.jpg[/image]

If anyone is interested in a hat like this to keep them warm, she really needs the money (though she wouldn't take any for mine). She and her husband have big time bill problems. LMK. I'll even ask her to fix the earflap shape, and go easy on the ear-ties.

I'm wearing it right now. I think it's cool as hell. Well, warm, actually. You know what I mean.

    Ooo, shiny hat!

I'd be interested in a cunning hat... I've been looking for one for a while now but haven't found one I really liked.

For those who have asked, she's asking $20 each, so it'll be $24 shipped for a made-to-order hat (since I'll be handling the PP and shipping). I just need to get your head/hat size. If you have a tape measure, that would be easiest.

Hey, it's a new record! it took this firefly relate thread FIVE POSTS before someone referred to the prop in question as "Shiny". Good work!!!

Kidding aside, that is actually pretty good. Makes you look ten pounds thinner!!! Awesome stuff. The back story to it helps sell it too.

Only ten pounds?? Feh! I've gained 15 since Dragoncon. Guess I need a bigger hat.
And I was gonna say shiny in my first post. Good thing, cuz I could have messed up the new record.

    Thanks, Markus!

MechaM, here are a couple more pics.

    Are ya down?
It's hard to capture it, but I think these show the colors pretty well. It's hard to recreate the show's "tint" above.

hey man, your eyes look identical to ed norton in fight club in the scene where his boss finds the "fight club rules sheet," right when ed grabs the paper out of his boss's hand. Check out that scene, you'll see what I mean. Cool hat by the way

It's hard to tell. I was afraid it would make my head feel hot, but it's pretty comfortable, and you forget the ear flaps are there. I guess if I tied them under my chin, they would.:P

Ed Norton, huh? I didn't like that movie much, so I tried to forget it.

Wow, two more interested? I'll go ahead and warn her!LOL She says she'll do them, so it's a go. Looks like 5 so far- I don't want to hit her with more until she does these first. Pending payments. She banged mine out before I knew it, but I don't want to overwhelm her (which is why I've been avoiding the junkyard).

    PMs sent on payment info!

Bump for those interested in a hat.

I've been paid for one, and gave Terry the money. She's getting started on it, but I'd rather give her more. I think I'll put in another "order" for myself, and pay under an assumed name this time.

I didn't post this last week, but she received an eviction notice the day after I posted this thread. Fortunately, they borrowed the money from her mother, who she wasn't really speaking to, but that's putting a band-aid on a gunshot wound. I hope I'm better off when I'm in MY 50's. Her husband has been on the road since New Year's, and only makes $300 a week. Don't get me started there. He's a real piece of work.

When she called him, he asked her what SHE was going to do about it...............Then told her to ask her mother.

Anyway, I've changed the title of this thread, to help get more possible interest.

And if anyone has and detail suggestions, please LMK.

I'll take one, not because I really need one just to help out some people. Don't get me wrong I like the hat but I am more interested in helping. Pm me payment info.

    I'm interested as well!

Plus, do you think she'd be interested in knitting me a Life Aquatic hat like the one Willem Dafoe wears?
