Can someone help me out with some information. I have gotten into a debate with someone on another board about whether or not MR SE's are real sigs or not. This fellow () is claiming the MR operator couldn't tell him if the sigs are authentic or not, therefore according to him they are not. I don't buy SE so I really don't know much myself, but I don't like seeing the MR name dragged around with no evidence...
I don't own any SE's, but I have talked to MR's customer service department on a couple of occasions. I wouldn't place any credibility on what anyone at their CS dept. said, or in this matter, didn't say.
The little knowledge that these representatives have about MR's products leads me to believe they are located in an outsourced call center. Their product knowledge seems to be limited to the same MR website as we have access to. I'm not knocking MR for using an outside call center, I used to work in one. I'm just saying that most of the employees of these centers know very little about the products they're "supporting". If the information isn't on the screen in front of them, they're not going to know the answer.
This may be completely off base, and MR may actually use in-house CS Representatives. This is just my opinion and observation.
uhm, reasonably sure that if the signature wasnt legit, many many legal battles would be being fought for illegal use of the celebrity's name. like sam jackson.
just because the operator is a little dim, doesnt mean the basic laws of logic dont apply.

didn't they have, in the old days, used a stamp or some system
to make signatures for celebritys, so they wouldn't have to sign
thousands of sigs all the time ??
the celebs gave permission to do that, and was seen as "official signature"
I thought I saw something like that on the tv once, there were
a lot of people upset about that, but it was prob more then 15 years ago

Well, if they're fake, then $600 is a lot of money for just a printed signature on the plaque for the MR Falcon. :P
Nah, they're definitely authentic.
I've never had an easy time with they're CS people either...
They are real signatures. I have talked with MR reps that were right there with the celebs when they were doing the signatures. Many of the sabers used to come with the photo of the actor signing them. Autopens are usually used on 8X10 pictures for mass quantities.
Even the SW events with the 8X10's they have the actors there usually signing away on them right in front of the crowds. Such sigs usually start to slightly change after about a 1000 signings as the actors wrist get sore. That is why they sometimes set time limits on signings at large events.
As for the MR phone reps, they are outsourced. They stink at any product knowledge, don't count on them for any accurate information. Many do not know what a lightsaber even is.
Easy way to tell......if nayone has a sig edition of something, post it here and we'll compare.
If they're exactly positioned etc, then we have our answer
Having worked in a call center, what you (or this other person) needs to understand is that the people who work there usually don't know anything about the product they're selling. They sit in front of a computer terminal and punch numbers. If the information you're looking for doesn't appear on their screen, then they don't know it. The point is, to you, it may be an ultra-limited full scale replica of the Jedi weapon used on the battle of Geonosis. To them, it's just "SW310 - Mace Windu lightsaber SE" and that's about it.
All MR signatures are 100% authentic. There is always someone present at the signing and photos are even taken while the celebrity signs them to document it.

doing 500 sigs is going to hurt your wrist for sure.

I read somewhere else that they did the signatures in batches. I have a Nimoy Star Ttrek Communicator that I got in trade and the sig is different from another board member's that I've seen.
I used to go to the Stasr Trek conventions in the 70's quite a bit. If you could stop for a second and talk to the actor, many would take a breather and even comment on how sore their wrist were. I had several signatures from the same actors at different events. Depending on how many they had written already, if it was a large crowd or small, and if they gave special attention to you, the sig differed greatly. Its just plain impossible for them to do a exact signature each and every time when they are doing so many.
I worked a payroll department were I had to sign the checks for a mid sized company. The first couple weeks after 40 checks I started feeling it. Those actors that do these types of signings really get a defined quick signature and work towards doing those long large sessions. If you see an actor that signs a readable sig during a large signing, they worked to do it and they really cared to do so.
