Takes money to make money you know. Besides, this is really the safer route for them to take if they do need to raise cash in order to do the replica run that is in almost everyone's price range. Pre-orders to raise cash these days is a dangerous way of doing things considering all the potential issues between outset and end product.

You are mistaken. The one at SDCC is exactly the same as this one and it is stated in the ad listing that "None of the parts is machined or CNC'd".

Huh, I could have sworn Kenny said that one was CNC'd but Nick assembled and painted them. Maybe I am wrong, I will go back and check.

Yeah, about that...how exactly did they make this metal item with NO machining. I think they may have misspoken a bit with this. Even if they cast the metal parts, some machining would be required to be able to assemble them at the very least.

Yup, I went back and read that and you are totally right, it was just the 10 Sonic parts (Probably because the 45deg undercuts on the head struts are a huge pain in the ass to cut). So that was one of these NR hand made Sonics at SDCC (I love it).

They must all be made using a hand mill and lathe, no CNC (I would guess ).

Had I not charged those Nike Mags (which I DO NOT regret) I would have seriously considered snatching this.
The price is insane, but it IS hand crafted by the actual prop artist. That alone comes with high value and appeal.
If I were an irresposible man (which sometimes I am) I could apply for another card - and get it - with a high enough limit to snag one, but that would mean I would have to pay that thing off, and I never know what curve balls life will throw at me a year or two from now.

I think it is true that the Robotto sonic WILL increase in value if not at least retain its original retail value, but I'm hoping this is a prelude to Qmx actually coming through with an accurate copy for FAR less....and also hoping CT comes through with another brilliant design.
