    Apr 21, 2008 - Monkey's Paw poetry challenge #1

I could of months ago I got a replica monkey's paw in a wooden box (you know, as in the horror tale where it grants three twisted wishes). I've always wanted to finish it off my adding a piece of weathered parachment to the inside lid of the box with a handwritten warning/explanation about the paw's powers, but have been starved of creative thinking and ain't been able to come up with anything that sounded good.

Anyway, I was watching an episode of Tales from the Crypt recently (someone pleeeeeeese make a 1:1 Cryptkeeper resin bust!!! ) and it featured a cursed, wish-granting monkey's paw, so I thought it would be a nice nod to have the poem that was engraved on that one's silver band written on my parchment. Only problem is, one line is "indecipherable" (according to the character reading it out - you never see it).

So...... The challenge is, can anyone think of a suitable line to replace the one that's missing?

Three wishes I give and no more
To each owner of me, so keep score.
    Each wish will come true
So take care what you do

    Greed I deplore.

I've seen his bust on eBay in the past and I agree that it is AMAZING. Unfortunately, it's latex and not resin, and I have a bit of a pet hate when it comes to latex due to too many masks dying on me.

Be careful what you wish for.... Doh! How could I have not thought of that one!
