I live in Clarkston, but I'd drive an hour or two for a party.

When I first joined the RPF there was a great prop party every spring in Sterling Heights. Don't know exactly what happened, but someone got pissed about something that happened at the party. Or a situation revolving around the party and there has not been one since. Going on 3 or 4 years now.

It would be great to be able to get one going again.

Re: Michigan Prop Part Interest Thread

Outlander sponsored the original Michigan parties. They were pretty great.

I would come up, bring my Ghostbusters gear along with a few other items for display.

Re: Michigan Prop Part Interest Thread

Does anybody have a preference as to a time frame for this? I was thinking Summer or fall that way we have enough time to plan everything. Not sure how many people take vacations in the Summer so this would definitely need to be something we think about.

Re: Michigan Prop Part Interest Thread

This would be great! Looks like I'd need to get ahold of some more props to show.

Re: Michigan Prop Part Interest Thread

Iam down for this just let me know maybe a couple of us get together and talk about it and gage interst i would help out.

Re: Michigan Prop Part Interest Thread

Dave and Busters are also in Auburn hills or Utica. I haven't been to either but could be an option . I'll end up hitting the Casino later.

Yeah they have the Dave and Busters in Utica and Gameworks in Auburn Hills at Great Lakes Crossing Mall. Within the next 2 weeks I'm going to get out and get information from both of them as well so that we have a variety of options

Oh yeah, I'm in the Harrison Clinton township area (in clinton but borderline harrison) and I'm willing to go pretty much wherever. Also, you can change the title..i think you edit your first post to do it?

Bloomfield Hills is only a few miles from me.
I'm interested as long as I'm home. I have quite a few business trips this spring/summer.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

It could be there it could be somewhere different. I'm just using Bloomfield as a starting point for information gathering and going from there. lonepigeon since you live in the area too any places that you could think of would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

If you have a party be prepared for:

1) No one will stay after to help you clean up except JediTeddy, Mr. Fett, and Cutest Sandgirl.

2) If you have it in Utica, you should have had it in Lansing. If you have it in Lansing, you should have had it....

3) Which ever weekend you choose, twenty people will post that a different day would be preferable. Ten of those people weren't going to show up anyway.

4) If you have a raffle, somebody's child will cry like you just shot their dog because they won a Jar Jar Binks figure instead of the Yoda toy they wanted. The parents will glare at you for traumatizing their little angel. How dare you give away stuff?

5) If you ask for a donation/admission of $5.00 to defray costs, no matter how many times you post that fact, people will be taken by surprise. If you don't charge at the door, some RPFers will try to rabbit when you finally do try to collect.

6) If you don't serve food, people will complain. If you do serve food and charge for it, people will leave and hit nearby fast food. If you serve food or drinks for free, some fat swarthy dude will stand by the bar and chug a free can of pop while complaining that last year's food was better.

7) Last year's party was always better.

8) The more work YOU do, the more YOU pay for, the less of themselves people will have invested in the party and the less they'll appreciate that there is a party at all.

Grrrrrrrrr. :angry Grrrrrrr. You kids don't know how good you've got it, what with your Licensed props and your loud rock and roll music! Cut your ponytail off hippy, put down that electric twanger...and get a job!

Let somebody else put the party together for you. Leave early and skate the bill. Go with the people you liked to Dave and Busters' and get drunk.

That's my advice.

:lol

Good advice there!!!!!!!!

Hey the way I figure it is I'm getting back into props after a 10+ year absence and this is a perfect way to network and make some new connections. If it doesn't work, hey I tried and there's always next year. If it does work which I hope it does maybe it will pave the way for future get togethers with some cool people

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

I'm in for $100 bucks when the time comes. Plus I'll have the mrs help with clean up while I'm at the casino j/k. I say we listen to grouchy mcgee (outlander) but also try to focus on the positive. I would also pm Brad "Jedifyfe" since he just handled 1.

I would love to get Munson up here for it and Darthwhitey and Darkhelmet. These are 3 people I would like to meet among many others like outlander.
