MattyCollector "Mattel Hoverboard" discussion

I asked that question in the mattycollector.com forum but didn`t get a reply while later questions were answered. Maybe they are still working on the stand to be be as movie accurate as humanly possible...

Very good :lol

I have checked a number of routes, but have not been able to get a reply from Matty saying that the board can be cancelled and that the funds will be refunded.
With my call to Digital Rivers, I was told absolutely no they will not refund on the hover board. So again, Matty can say one thing but in reality, they are doing another, both on the production of this and with the handling of their customers.

Thank you for contacting the MattyCollector.com online store.

We have received your request to cancel the pre order for Back to the
Future™ Hoverboard (Prop Replica).

Matty Collector does not allow cancellations for any order.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Sincerely,
Regine T.

They lied about what they were going to produce a movie accurate board, they lied about the materials, they lied about modifying the pro typing and now they have lied about the cancellation. The worth of Matty's word?

The worth of Matty's word?

About as much as in any other large disorganised corporation :lol, and the idiotic amount of time it takes for a simple memo to reach (and be read :lol) by whoever needs to know.

I just 'love' to see these 'left doesn't know what the right is doing' things :lol

It'll fall into place though Trip :):thumbsup

That is posted ON the Matty site, yet you call them and they deny to cancel?

Yep :lol

"Regine T" hasn't read the memo yet :lol.

She is just using the 'cut & paste' function out of her 'standard replies' folder :lol

I'm not laughing at the difficulties being faced by those who want refunds, to be clear. I just find Mattel's organisation set-up, pathetic to say the least.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

One can only dream how much that is worth.

I suggest everyone bombard customer service with the links to the video and Matty posting. I know I already did :)

Let's take a closer look. A spike in cancellations happen today AFTER they open up everyone's ability to ask for one. They probably already knew about this thread, so they probably popped in to read updates. Suddenly a "new" member decides as a first post, to ask this question and defend the job they did?

Coincidence?:confused

I'm sure you might find it coincidental or even suspicious that I am a new member and that my opinions are not consistent with the majority of other posters on this board, and that seems to have led people to believe that I am somehow affiliated with Mattel or Matty collector, but the fact of the matter is that I wanted to ask a question, and that required me to create an account. If I could have posted a reply as a guest, I would have. I do appreciate that a least one other member (tripoli) was able to give me an answer to my question.

I am not a prop or movie replica collector, and with the exception of my Force FX Lightsaber, I typically only collect action figures. I am however a big fan of Back to the Future and when I found out that Mattel was making an official licensed hoverboard, I jumped at the chance to order one. It is my first, and most likely my last Matty collector purchase, and I have absolutely no affiliation with them whatsoever.

If you are still skeptical, I use the same user name for my Youtube channel as well as my PSN ID. If anyone cares to look, they will see that I posted a BTTF related video back in 2010, long before Mattel announced the hoverboard and probably even before they got the BTTF license. If you look me up on PSN, you'll also see that I played the BTTF games by Tellatale, which I believe came out before the hoverboard was announced as well.

Just wanted to clear things up

People here are quick to jump on newbies who go against what everyone else is saying. We have had a number instances of someone joining just for the purpose of giving someone or something good press while everyone else is bashing them. So it can sometimes be very hard to be a newbie, but hang in there.

Just got onto Matty over the phone and got my order cancelled. The trick is to stand your ground, point out that not only is their refusal to allow preorder cancellations illegal as the final product no longer matches what was promised, but to point out that there has already ben a post on the Mattycollector forums by "Matty" stating that preorders are allowed.

It took being put on hold for a couple of times and a 10 minute phonecall, but it finally happened.
