    Mar 7, 2011 - Mannequins #1

Can anyone recommend a good inexpensive Mannequin? I want to display my son's Halloween Costumes but know nothing of Mannequins.

Are fiberglass the best? Any types to avoid?? On eBay they are a bunch under $100. I'd probably need one that is about 45" tall.

Here's the costume I want to display:

    Thanks

Cool costume... I would personally opt for a child-sized fibreglass mannequin, and modify it by cutting at the elbows and fibreglassing coathanger-wire in place, to make the arms poseable.

I don't think a flexible foam mannequin would be suitable, as they tend to wobble 'n sway quite a bit. I got one for Stormtrooper armour sometime ago, and the mannequin would lean over under the weight. Judging by the backpack on your son's costume I think you would benefit from the rigidity of a fibreglass mannequin.

.....or you could save $$$s by increasing your son's allowance in return for him standing in the corner of the room dressed in the costume?

    Cheers,
    John

Check Craigslist in your area. I just picked up two mannequins, fiberglass, white, male and female with removable legs, feet, torso, arms, wrists, and they are headless.

$145.00 with local pickup. Great condition. They retail for over $350 each!

    Well worth the search.
