Made a BTTF 2 Hoverboard from foam

I first printed out a 1-1 sized "blueprint" and then used that to cut out the parts from eva foam.

Made the bevels with the help of my dremel.

The "Magnets" are made from thinner pieces of foam. Glued parts together with the gluegun.

Painted the edges with NEON Pink construction marker paint.

Used one of the decals that Rpf Member Roland 's made. I had to print it out on A4 paper and used a laserprinter (the ink don't bleed when wet) Then i used decoupage glue to attach it to the foam..and after painting all the other pieces i hotglued everything onto the board.

Reminds me of the good ol' days of BackyardFX by indymogul. Anyways good job and hope to see more work!
P.S. I like this where did you get that 1:1 blueprint :p

I second the question about blueprints! Also I'd love to know the various thicknesses of foam you used.

brilliant work!

Great job!

For the cost of the materials and time involved this must rate as one of the best effort/result ratio props out there!

Cool... I just made a resin cast part for the Hoverboard using Bob Gales design... I am going to cast it to make my hoverboard this took me severalIMG_0597.JPG hours to get it right! Let me know what you think! A pic of the screen used prop is next to the one I hand made.

Apparently I already had that "blueprint" for a while now :unsure

I think the original board was also made of some form of foam as you can see the rough edges on the BD. MJF's shoe left was also screwed to the board for the hovering sequences, so the board would have had to be very light weight.

I used those parts before - compared to Bob Gales original - they are way off! Look at my part above - I screen matched Bob's design almost identical. The parts are too small and narrow especially around the mag clips and the size and space between each "rise" on the clip is off. Check my part out I made screen matched above and compare. If you want a part done right, you need to compare actual screen used wares in Photoshop or Illustrator and use transparency to match the actual screen used prop then go from there - otherwise your parts will not be screen accurate.

coolpropdude - I have been going over those blueprints to create new vectors and I have definitely noticed some errors.

perhaps you could post your corrected measurements?

Here is the image I used to make the above part - it is a .jpg image - ignore the thumbanail image - that was the one before the corrected image shown here. It is an exact match to scale from the original movie prop. Simply print and enjoy! MAGPARTS.jpg

Fantastic! Thank you so much - I had just started using Illustrator to build my plans and you just saved me a heap of time! Very generous. I appreciate it.

Wow that is decked out! Haha I like the pink shoe strap :cool What kind of foam did you use, styrofoam?
No, it's Eva foam. same thing people use to build iron man armor and stuff from.
nice job like it :thumbsup how long did it take from start to finish? looks good
It did not take that long to build it, a few day i guess, It was my first foam build so it took a little longer than it would take now. Most of the time was the drying time.
