As some of you may or may not know, I've spent the last couple of years on the road and on the run. Well, not really on the run, but that phrase has a nice "BJ and The Bear" ring to it, so i thought I'd use it.

Anyhow, I've been living in ALL kinds of places for a long time, but NONE of them have ever been such that I can have a room to display all of my props and cool stuff in. I've had big appartments, but usually in other countries... while my collection languished in storage in Orange County. Well, the planets have finally aligned, and I've started the final phases in my quest of having my own display room.

I've recently relocated to San Francisco, in a manner that is as permanent as is allowed for Matt Munson. You know... I'm here until I leave I've rented a giant loft appartment with over 1,500 square feet of fun to be had, and I've dedicated one room as my display room. Right now, it's not much to look at. But consider these the "Before" pictures. I've already cleared out a few hideous 80's particle board shelf units, and torn up half of the ceiling. The previous owners put in a 6 foot high ceiling, which totally stinks as I'm six foot two. So I've blown out the second floor, which will give me 12 foot ceilings in my room. The stair case is next. Dont' need that any more, now that there's only one floor.

Hopefully, more pics soon. i'm really trying to get this room finished within a reasonable amount of time. That way, i can get back to work on R2!!

Stay tuned for more progress pics!

Now how are you going to build an R2 if you are busy with all that construction?

Can't wait to see the pics. Icidentally, have you considered using the stairs? Seems like "someone" could be running down them or firing from over the rail (if you have life-sized stuff.)
I can't tell how much of the room they take up though, looks like maybe "too much."

6' ceilings? wow... that had to drive the price down. But in SF, I bet it didn't make that much of a difference.
I once looked at a three bedroom/two bath house that had 6' 6" ceilings. It stayed on the market for years. I think it's a rental property now. Everyone that walked through it instinctivly ducked every three or four steps.
Hope you got a great deal, and I'm looking forward to the 12' wall of props that is soon to follow.

yeah, the stairs take up way too much room. I'd say just under half of the room is monopolzied by them. They must go.

And don't get me wrong, the ceilings are 12 feet high. The previous tenant happened to build out a corner of the place, and decided to make it two floors: six feet each. Great if your'e an ooompa loompa, bad if you're matt munson.

Wow, the previous owners must have been short. I'm 5'10" and can't imagine a 6' ceiling!

Does this mean your traveling days are over?

My landlord spidey sense just kicked in. 6 foot ceilings and a staircase. Looking at that godawful carpet, I get this sensation that screams prior multi-cat dwelling. Looks like that carpet served as an absorbent type urine catcher.

Looking forward to the build out.

Might get some help from Adam Savage if you can get him to believe there is a secret chamber somewhere within the room...Oh! wait! You already did that!
