I'm trying to gage the price range for this.
I have a 2003 grand am. I had the hood airbrushed with superman on it and then took it to Hero Con last year and had over 50 artists sign it. People like George Perez, Ed McGuiness, Adam Huges, and Brian Stelfreeze just to name a few. I wasn't sure how much something like this was worth.

Keep the hood off the car first.
Its worth a couple of hundred to start with, EASILY.
Keep it for a "few" years and it will only gain in value. But it will take time. Its too bad it wasnt done on an older car. But again, it also depneds on how well the signatures age, along with a demand for Superman stuff.
Money wise, it's probably worth quite a bit, just for the artwork alone. The signatures will go up in value as the artists stop doing work or pass on (just like any piece of art).
What you should do, if you haven't already, is first, get a replacement hood for your car. Second, take that hood to a professional auto body specialist (not Maaco or any of those clowns) and have them give it a few good coats of automotive, UV grade clear coat. The UV additive in the professional clear coat will keep the light from fading the signatures.

Definitely test the sharpie with the clear coat. I used sharpie with clear coat on a lightsaber hilt to darken it because it DID run and diffuse with the clear coat.
Well, even withouth any paint - at all - it's probably worth a few hundred (you'll find out when you get a replacement!)
Then the artwork. To a fan, this is worth something, what did you pay for the airbrushing?
Then the signatures.
I would guess that you have a piece worth over a grand that will increase in value as others here have said. If any of the artists passes or stops drawing or does something really newsworthy (not to take away from their art!) it will only increase the value that much more.
I would take it to comic-con and other places and keep loading it with signatures. Make a bracket that fits the hinge points to hang on a wall and plan to clear coat it when you believe you are "finished" or build a case around it.
At this point, it shouldn't be on a car unless it's just for fun and the value is to you alone and of a more personal or sentimental nature.
On the car, a fender bender could really destroy this as will the sun, over time and the elements.
If you want it as a collector's item, get it inside.
The other thing is that if you leave it on your car, it will start looking pretty bad as the sigs fade and just look like scribbles (illegible, etc.)

thanks guys. Yeah it's been off the car since I got the signatures. It's been sitting in my Garage waiting to be hung ever since. I took it to a body shop and asked about the clear coat. They said that the chemicals in the clear coat will remove and distort the signatures. So in my garage it sits as a display. Hopefully one day I'll put it up in my art studio.

Look for a body shop that uses water based basecoats. They should apply two layers of clear water based basecoat and then spray two layers of automotive UV grade clear coat. I did that a couple of times. Works fine .
