What you should do, if you haven't already, is first, get a replacement hood for your car. Second, take that hood to a professional auto body specialist (not Maaco or any of those clowns) and have them give it a few good coats of automotive, UV grade clear coat. The UV additive in the professional clear coat will keep the light from fading the signatures.
