    Aug 29, 2011 - Jun 19" Gremlins Stripe That I Repainted #1

I recently repainted my 19" Jun Gremlin Stripe.

He originally came in a weird lime green color which was meant to replicate the movie poster.

I started prepping him & then base coating him in 3 different shades of green. I also added brown washes to get the color that I wanted.
The mouth was also repainted with saliva added & I thickened up the mohawk to look a little more screen accurate.

    Pics taken under florescent lights.

    Before pic.

How much was he? I still have my original large stripe toy from when the movie was released, but this looks so good I could finally replace him.

He now looks realistic enough that I would be unsettled seeing him hang from a chandelier! Great job!

    Thanks guys.
It is actually a numbered piece out of 1000 that I purchased online a few years ago from Japan back when they had them for $100.

The sculpt is fantastic but the lime color really bothered me so I finally built up the courage to repaint it a more accurate color. It is funny how in bright lighting Gremlins appear dark green & in darker lighting they can appear to be a shade of brown in the movie.

Overall I am happy with the finished result even though I probably devalued the piece by painting it.

It looks like they still sell on ebay for $100, so odds are there isn't and value increase, and with a better appearance, you've probably actually increased the value.

I could probably fund on selling of my original toy... he is probably worth something by now, and they were quite scarce.

The upgrade pretty much only cost me some time, white hair & paint.
It makes for a nice prop without busting your wallet.

The cool thing about the Jun 19" Gremlin figures is that they are the same size as the prop Gremlin skull & the 18" Neca Mohawk statue.

I really want to add acrylic half round eyes to my Jun mogwai Gizmo & Mohawk.
It will bring them to life but I am not sure of the exact size needed.
