Iron Man briefcase in Iron Man 2 (Spoilerish? Just incase)

Here's something that sort of peaked my interest. I was watching footage on superherohype.com and saw this (sorry for the bad screenshots):

Looks like even MORE of the comic is starting to come into play in the movie. With the MkV looking so much closer to Adi Granov's concept designs and now the IM briefcase, if that is what it is, I really look forward to more. Especially with more Whiplash info coming out into the public.

As soon as clearer pics start showing up, I think this would be the PERFECT addition to Zendragon's Stark costume. Anyone else seen this? Maybe DVR'd the aired version so we could get some better screencaps?

Ryu

Cool. For those of us who don't know what the case is for, could you enlighten us/me?

Thanks,

In the comics he has a briefcase that usually contains his armor.

In a more recent comic Tony Carries one repulsor gauntlet in a briefcase in case of any trouble.

That seems much more plausible than the entire suit.

My dentist did the teeth for Mickey Rourke's character in this. I went in wearing a "Stark Industries" shirt from this board and he asked if I had worked on it, he was very proud of the work he did.

I hope it's the case.

Despite loving the movie this always bugged me.

How is Tony supposed to turn into Iron Man on the fly.

The movies Marvel is currently producing, I'm told, are based on the Ultimate's Universe, a series that came out after I stopped collecting. However, if memory serves, in the original comics, Tony continued to miniaturize version after version of the red/gold suit, finally getting a version that was a cloth-like material he could wear the majority of under his clothing. He would keep the boots, gloves, and helmet/mask in the briefcase for fast access. Donning these items completed some circuit or other, electrifying the suit, and 'popping' the cloth out to a hard version of the cloth.

Tossing his shoes into the briefcase and stashing it completed the transformation, and IM was off to the rescue! Later developments in the armor- I doubt even Marvel has managed to keep an accurate count of them- brought him back to the rigid materials, the War Machine armor would be a good example, which allowed for mounting heavier weaponry and increased power sources.

It seems an odd way to end up, going back to a design that is so similar to the original grey/silver suit he escaped in, where he seemed to look like some nut wearing a stove, but there you have it.

If you read back issues, you'll also notice that very few enemies made Tony himself a target, and when they did, it was usually as an effort toward coaxing IM out into the open. Plot lines being what they are, they would always leave Tony alone, and near something that would facilitate his escape.
