Jul 31, 2012 - help with MR Kermit photo puppet #1

I just bought a Kermit Photo puppet that has been converted into a real puppet. Some of the stuffing has been removed and a hole made for your hand to fit into. What I want is to find someone who can help me convert it BACK to a photo puppet. Anyone know how to do this?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks!

If I were you I would find someone to trade with.

There are LOTS of owners who want to turn theirs into a puppet

Try to contact the first owner and see who turned it into an actual puppet...

Do you have photos of the puppet to see how they converted it? Might help people give advice.

I think this could make for an awesome display with a mannequin hand and some sticks for Kermit's arms! Ps....just trying to encourage in case you can't get it converted back.

Dude... I hate to break the news to you...
But that is not a MR photo puppet converted into a hand puppet.

I just looked over my MR puppet and it just doesn't match yours. The face and body seams are too prominent in yours and the material is completely wrong.

I hope you didn't pay a lot for that? Those puppets sell for about $100-200 on eBay. Did the seller pass this off as a MR puppet and charge those prices?

Hey, I was watching that auction as well and after comparing a TON of shots from different sites, I decided against it. Take it from Moviefreak, that is not a converted MR photo puppet, one of the biggest gives I was told from a fellow collector who owns all the MR photo puppets was the material and the feet. The auction ended at around $100 I believe so I wouldn't feel too bad, but I really don't think its the MR photo puppet.

Glad it ended at that amount. I was worried it was marketed as MR and sold for $700-900 as that is the average range

Sorry, But it is Not an MR Kermit. It would be made of Antron Fleece that is not Antron Fleece.

Correct, it's not a MR kermit at all. It's one of those stuffed toy kermits you often see around. I have both, the MR and a stuffed toy kermit that looks nearly exact to the one in your pictures, but stuffed. Most notably the material is entirely different and the biggest giveaway and the general shape/cut is different as well. The stuffed toy version has a surface that feels kind of like a soft towel.

The MR kermit also doesn't have that prominent seam running down the front of his belly, but most of the toy ones do. I've attached a pic of the MR kermit that I found online that shows the fleece texture pretty well. It has a very unique look and even kind of shimmers under certain light.

I saw that auction on ebay early on and tried to report it for an inaccurate/misleading description hoping to protect potential buyers, but unfortunately ebay didn't do anything about it (not surprised, since it's ebay). I hope the buyer was being honest and didn't know himself that it's not a MR kermit, but either way it should be brought to his attention.

However what you have is not a bad looking converted version of the stuffed kermit. Someone took time time to make it more functional.

I've been keeping an eye out for a MR Animal...that thing is awesome.

Well, HMS Mike has said it .And he would know!
I too have the exact same Kermit here. Same seams and the collar is the give away. The one I have is made the same way. Somone cut the figures apart and added wires. Then opened the seam in the back. If you want to know for sure the center front and rear seam cross at the bottom with the left and right seam. Then there are 2 smaller seams that run down the back of the legs!
Sorry but I hope that help!

Just in case you wanted to know there are 9 on ebay right now. They usually go for around $50. The nine on ebay range from $9 to $99.

I am sorry to hear it. I don't have any real knowledge of them, but just photo comparisions, you can see the difference. Your's looks like a North Face fleece type material, whereas the MR Kermit has this almost Tennis Ball material. I hope you get this resolved in a satisfactory manner.

Well, I guess better to find out now than after I send it to someone to redo. No response from the seller yet.
Here is exactly what the item description said "Here is a great Kermit the Frog puppet that will wow the kids and please the adults. It was originally a Master's Replica Photo Kermit but was taken and modified to be a puppet. You put your hand through his back so its much cooler to perform with. The stuffing or padding was removed in his head and a green felt liner was installed. You can operate his mouth and add expressions kinda like the real Kermit. He has an arm rod for his left arm and his fingers are fully pose-able. His eyes are great and his mouth detail is high quality. Great feet too! This will entertain your kids as well as other children for sure. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!"

Always a possibility they just didn't know, especially if they bought it from someone else in the past who gave false info.

Maybe get a paypal dispute going. The item was falsely advertised as something it wasn't.

I think they said he spent only about $100 on it. That really isn't that bad of a price for a full size Kermit puppet. So, while it isn't a MR... It is still a pretty good puppet. May be worth keeping and still get a MR one day too.

It may be a good puppet but he still wanted to revert it back to an original MR. I say file and get your $ back and get a real MR since that is what you want. And maybe look for this same one cheaper on evilbay
