That's a missed opportunity on our part, eh? That would've made a great photo!!![]()
Just wanted to post a BIG thanks for all the kind words. It means a lot to us that people appreciate the work and the design of the piece... for those that haven't clicked through to the site, there's a little bit of info there about the person we pulled this together for (no, not Phil, unless he's now part of a Grammy-award winning Christian rock band?)
for a little more info: http://www.tomspinadesigns.com/
Rich and I are looking forward to several original (non-movie-related) projects like this and we're continuing to expand our services designing and creating custom furniture and home theater pieces.
As always, keep an eye on the TSD site for future projects and don't hesitate to email us with inquiries for original designs or custom work.
Thanks again for the kind words!
Tom
Thats awsome.. But why not make the panels to be actually possible to open like a desk drawer. Functionality and props work well together.
People love functional props.
Is that where the set of only 4 control panels I made got used?
WOW that looks incredible!!! Eat your heart out IKEA!!! I think you've justfound a new role in life... Supply of Movie set furnishings. We can have the Hobbit hole line and the Yoda Dagobah Swamp (never need to wash) kitchen units.
Anyway, seriously, you've done a great thing there. I'd like to say I'm surprised but nothing ever surprises me knowing what you guys are capable of
Cheers
Phil
You've made Gizmodo and Geekologie. By the response, I think it's time to talk to Lucas Licensing.
Absolutely amazing work, Tom (as usual)
Funny thing is, I was looking through some old pics this afternoon on my PC, and re-discovered the pic of you standing beside your lifesize Wampa creature. Now that was seriously impressive IMO, but you seem to be getting better and better all the time!
Now, I hate it when people suggest stuff *after* a project has been completed, but it would've been pretty cool if you could have incorporrated that technology (I'm too lazy to Google it) where an electric current is passed through glass, which remians transparent, until the electricity supply is disconnected and the glass becomes opaque.
That way, your client could choose who he revealed his geekdom to, and kept it a secret from the rest
Can't wait to see what you come up with next, mate
Cheers,
John
16,432 Views in less than 2 days?!That's astonishing.
Anyway, I already posted my praise for this awesome desk, but just thought it was worth pointing out how many views this thread has gotten in such a short period of time. Incredible, and a testament to the awesomeness of the desk.
The Wook
That is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

Ive just got to throw my voice in and say that this is completely badass... I've always wanted a Han-in-carbonite coffee table, but this would also do quite nicely![]()
With all this talk of functional drawers on here...
Han kinda struck me as a boxer or commando kinda guy. Not sure he would be wearing em, and you are weird for asking.
:P
Hell of a job Rich! Damned amazing, and I can't think of a better team to pull this off than you and Tom.
Check your email btw!
I think that is one of the most awesome things I have ever seen in my entire life.
Brilliantly done.![]()
that has got to be the coolest thing I've seen for a long, long time!!
Fantastic work and stunning photography as well.........I want one!!
And here I thought the Prop Forum was getting boring of late!
Stunning work, Tom!
Even the chair is cool - Enterprise command chair-ish... Where'd you go to get it?
Wow....speechless!
Fantastic work, tom!
That is one of the most amazing things I have seen. Really, all it needs is a death star conference room chair to go with it, and you are set!

61,702 views?! Uh, am I reading that right? This desk is becoming mighty popular, and rightfully so!
Thanks again for the kind words! Does seem to be getting a lot of views, doesn't it?
BTW, neat idea about making the control boxes drawers, but they're only on the outside edge and not the inside so not sure that would've been much of a change (still a great idea though!)
Oh and Rob, you'll need to ask Rich about the chair, as it's his from his shop/office and just used to help show things off in the pics
Tom
yep, that's gotta be a record!
A totally, totally cool desk!!!!! I soooooo want one!!
