    Jun 29, 2007 - Han ROTJ checkered grips #1

Where to get checkered Mauser grips?
Does anyone know if there is any place that sells Mauser grips such as the ones in the pic below?

Or if not, does anyone know how one would go about making these grips?

I would really like to make a Stembridge style Han ROTJ blaster, but I have no idea where these grips come from. Any help would be apreciated.

    -Thanks

I'm getting an invalid attachment error from that link. FYI.

    Best bet is Gunbroker.com.

Sometimes plain grips come up, whereupon you could cut the checkered pattern in it. But, having recommended that website, over the years I've not seen but 1 Broomhandle w/ those type of grips.

    BTW: your link isn't working.

Browells sells the tools for checkering grips and stocks, basically they're just specialized wood carving tools..... You'd need to scale the picture and figure out how many LPI (lines per inch) you'ed need before ordering the tool set. But the cost of the tools probably exceeds the cost of the grips.

Does anyone know someone who does custom gun grips and could take on a small project like this?

BTW- thanks for the help so far

I've seen a number of rubber and resin replacement grips, but the top always has a logo inset so the checks don't go all the way up.
