I want!!

Yeah I'm going to grab a pair. I can look past them not being marked and hopefully since they are official they are better quality than the imports. If not then being out $100 is better than being out over $200.

They are the exact same knockoffs that have been available since 2012. They are actually worse than the normal knockoffs slightly.

The differences are as follows:

No Nike Mag lettering moulded on the heel.
No Nike swoosh.
Plain white strap with no nike logo and visible stitching.
Visible white stitching around the lace area (unlike the existing knockoffs which are better in this regard)
a circular hole instead of triangular hole in the collars.
The actual white puffy piece of the collars shape has been slightly changed, its now more puffy, and less straight, seems the shape has been distorted on purpose.

Other than that, they are identical to the existing knockoffs, as they are made by the same factory.
I'm not even sure they are "officially licensed" by Universal Studios or Need to be for that matter, as they have no Nike branding anywhere on them, so therefore its got nothing to do with Nike or Universal studios .

Why would Universal Studios license a modified Fake knockoff? I don't get that reasoning to be honest.

They are not better quality, they are slightly worse and thats the fact. They are still ok though, as they are half the price at $98 and while you won't have the nike mag letters on the back of the heel, the swoosh can be added very easily as can a custom nike logo strap. You can still make a good modified replica out of it.
You will just have no nike mag on the heel, and some more visible stitching, and slightly puffy collars, otherwise essentially you can make a cheap modified replica.

Markpoon could start doing runs of the swoosh and lettering he used to include with his shoes.
It was a sheet with sticky back pieces you applied yourself, so they would work perfectly on these.

Could Nike mag letters be made out of urethane or something and then glued on?

I'd be quite tempted to make them out of rubber, with a scalpel knife like what you can use for detail woodworking and starship model construction. And cutting and gluing a swoosh - easy as. Just have to flatten down those lumps on the side underneath where you want the swoosh, probably with steam I expect. I suck at sewing, but those mods I could do easy. It's a pity they made the top white part puffier around the collar when it's the grey part underneath that which actually needed to be puffier. Getting a pair of these might be a good excuse to try the strap mod.

Question: Has there been any proof that these are officially licensed other than just a business's website saying so?

"While the shoes are officially licensed by Universal Studios, they aren't a Nike product. You'll notice the lack of swoosh or any Nike branding. The phrase "Air Mag" doesn't appear anywhere in the product description. Nike brought out its own high-end version of the Air Mag in 2011, but it was destined only for people with deep pockets. The shoes were sold in a very limited edition of 1,500 pairs through eBay with the proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, a charity dedicated to treating Parkinson's disease."

So they are licensed by universal NOT Nike. The article points out that there is set to be a release of Nike Mags in 2015 with power laces!

"
The power laces were conspicuously absent from the 2011 Air Mags, but we might not have to wait much longer for them to become a reality. Tinker Hatfield, a Nike designer famous for his Air Jordan contributions, was asked about power laces at a recent event in New Orleans. His answer, according to Sole Collector, was that we should see them next year."

If the Mags that come out next year are either too limited or expensive, I might just try to start on my own pair with custom uppers. I know Nike released their patterns a little while back. And these new knockoffs come in smaller sizes, so they will fit my feet better. I wear a size 8 in normal shoes, but the Mag 8s are a little too big.

It would be great if someone came up with a "conversion kit" for these that included everything needed to turn them into a "Nike branded" replica: swooshes for the sides, the Nike Mag additions to the heel and a replacement strap for the front with the Nike logo (with or without a light-up option).

I've been contemplating getting a pair of Nike Mag replicas for a couple of months. As much as I want them to be as screen accurate as possible, $100 is a lot easier to swallow than $250+ :unsure

Why buy and support such a crappy product in the first place?? :facepalm

Indeed!
if you are planning on modifying a pair, then the standard V2 is your best option, as the changes can be done easily and all the information is here on this forum.

You are just going to make things life difficult by trying to improve on an unbranded pair, even if they are a $100 less in price.

For starters, trying to glue something to that rubber heel is going to be difficult and will probably look crap. Secondly, the upper white part is now more puffy, so they look ridiculous now.

At least the standard V2 "branded" replica knockoff is a good base.

If I was to modify a pair of unbranded ones, I wouldn't even bother touching the heel part. It would be easy enough to add the lights, a new strap, leds, switch, flattened lace bulges, toe slim. I would probably just add a leather nike swoosh and call it a day.

Other than that, maybe do a completely different custom shoe with your own name or branding.

Come to think of it, I may actually get a few pairs and do an "adidas" edition and a "puma" edition just for the fun of it! lol!

i have a pair of adidas roundhouse, wearing them now actually, that are my stand ins, along with my radii's. until i finally get a pair.
