    Dec 4, 2010 - Green lantern power battery #1

Using the instructions I found on the Forum, I created my own version of the Power Battery. I am new to the forum and this is the first project I have done, other than the pep helmets that I am currently working on. For a light source I used a 9-LED flashlight head and rewired the power pack. I still need to do a little prep work and then I will paint it.

Looking good! I can't wait to see it painted up. I have built several of these over the past few years myself.

That's looking excellent. I'm a huge fan of the Silver Age Green Lantern, so I'm excited to see how this turns out.

Thanks for the kind words. With Christmas coming, I have about five projects all going at once, but hope to get back to this one and complete it as soon as possible...

Just a quick update on my progress. I have primed the lantern and need to touch up a couple of spots, re-prime those and then shoot the final green...

Thanks for the compliment. As for the "tutorial" I did not find a specific one here and perhaps I should have worded it more like: using information and techniques explained here, combined with other internet postings on the subject, I used that information combined with a few ideas/improvements of my own, to create my project. Sorry for any confusion I may have created... I am in the process of applying the green paint now so it's still in progress, but I'm getting there...

There actually is a tutorial out there to create a similar lantern. You can find it on instructables:
How to Make a Green Lantern Power Battery (Hal Jordan's)

Though, I'm liking the design of Bat Girls better.

Well, I finished the battery today and have included the finished photos. My husband is a huge Green Lantern fan and this is for him for Christmas. He also likes the Green Lantern logo, so I included it on the top in a three dimensional rendering. I think if I made another lantern, I would use a less powerful light source, but the same set-up as far as the source and wiring. All in all, I am pleased with the outcome...

    Umm... COOLEST WIFE EVER?

That really looks great. Be proud of that. Hell, be proud that you are that cool of a wife to think of something that close to your hubbys heart!

If I had a wife that built me a lightsaber, or simmilar thing I loved from childhood etc. I think I would be WAY more touched than any expensive gift she could buy.

You kick serious butt BatGirl! 2 thumbs way up on this!

(don't think less of him if he gets teary-eyed. I know I would!)

Great build. I'm thinking I need to build one of these and put it on my desk at work. I recently had a job interview where I was asked what super hero I would be and why. I picked the Green Lantern because I thought he was super cool like I am. Needless to say, I didn't get the job, but I have a funny story. One of these on my desk at work would top it off!

    Thirded for truth!

BTW, I don't think there's anything wrong with the lighting on this Power Battery...

The lantern is a tremendous source of energy so it should glow/light up bright!

how did you make the logo on top? and does the light shine through there?

im going to attempt one like yours and rum runner and GBrittelleJr.

how did you glue the pieces? is it bondo? and is it easy to work with?

    thanks for your time, Kyle
