Re: my hoverboard parts have been recast, again. "chaucer44" aka GoldenArmor

It sucks that he seems to be the only seller of the ET prop ship :(
I am sure he probably recast it at some point in the past... And now that he is the only seller, buying it would be supporting this fool and encouraging him to continue.

I wonder if he would like it if someone bought it, cast it and sold it for "cost of resin". He'd probably cry about getting recast!! :lol
But two wrongs don't make it right and I wouldn't encourage anyone to recast... Even if it is recasting a recaster. :lol

Re: my hoverboard parts have been recast, again. "chaucer44" aka GoldenArmor

Well, the excitement I had for my current project just took a major nosedive :/

I had no idea golden armour was a re-castor, I just gave that guy my oh so hard earned last night for some marine helmet parts.........I think I feel sick........ :sick

Not sure I'll use them now, I'd only be down $48, and this comunity, the genuin creativity and hard work is worth more to me than a few quid and some sham parts, I just wish I'd found out earlier :(

Cris Adrian.

POS.

Still can't make a decent casting?

Back in the 90's this guy told me his TK armor was 100% accurate to the movies... We talked on the phone and email a half dozen times... I kept saying certain things didnt look right...

This was before stuff like GF, TE, Gino/CR were available to the average person.

He was selling FX armor. He KNEW it wasn't accurate. He KNEW there was better out there, and could've helped me out...

But there would been no profit for him.

At least you know that NO old school RPFers will buy your stolen work from him.

We ALL have a Cris Adrian story!

Canobi, I know you from your awesome work in the TRON disc thread. You have some skills bud! And you will need them to clean up the parts you bought!!! LOL!!!

Seriously though, I wouldn't worry about using the parts, or even showing them off here once done. Just don't re sell the pieces!

What I'm saying is, accidents happen. If you can't get a refund, (you can't) then try n make the best of it. Just remember to steer people away from this turd and his wares.

Is he still using that brittle yellow-orange resin? Even if the casting is good the resin is garbage. I've seen half-cured pieces, stuff with fiberglass cloth sticking out on finished edges.

You would think after all these years he would at least be a better caster.

He did mention something about the parts being "untrimmed, I guess I'll find out exactly what that means when I get them :/

As it happens this bucket is a surprise present for my bro and was never going to be for sale. I'm still finding my feet with all this kit buying, but I'll certainly be more diligent when sourcing from now on.

Yeah, lesson learned. I'd say clean up the parts yourself and use them.
If you bought off of eBay, you could always leave a negative review.
I had his biker scout "diaper" and I think some of his scout armour (which were soft pulls, at best)

Re: my hoverboard parts have been recast, again. "chaucer44" aka GoldenArmor

I flat out asked if they were recast... his response...

I've had these parts since 1998. I'm talking to an artist in the U.K. who thinks they are from his parts. When I got them in the 90s they were from an prop dealer claiming they were from film-used pads and clamps. If he can show pics that and evidence that he made them in the 90s then he has a claim on them. Otherwise he has parts that are from these parts I originally aquired in 1998.

Kind of flies in the face of his auction description, IMHO.

He retooled them his self... Through another person... In the past? :facepalm

Good ole Cris. He'll NEVER go away. Why should he? People continue to buy from him. I even know a few RPFers that STILL buy from him knowing his history. Their response? "He's the only one that sells that Johnson Bolt and I REALLY want it for my collection. Plus, he's cheap!" Their mentality is this:
1. Even if it's crap, I can fix it up.
2. Even if it's crap, it's better than NOT having a Johnson Bolt in my collection.
3. Who's gonna know that I bought from him?

This line of thinking only shows that that even the mighty RPFers secretly succumb to the beconing of tainted props to get what they need. It's just too great a siren. Now the newbs, they don't know any better and can be forgiven. But the old-timers, yeah, they leave a bad taste in my mouth concerning character. You'd be surprised what a fellow RPFer will tell you after a few brews at a prop party. :behave
Oh, don't get me wrong. I've considered a time or two buying that ALIEN flame thrower from him because he's the only one who offers it...until Shawn Morgan finishes his :love! But it doesn't take long for me to come to my senses knowing that I would only be feeding the monster that plagues us on a daily basis.

Glad I checked up on Goldenarmor.com.

I just came across their HAL9000 and it looked really sweet, but thanks for the advice.

I will keep looking, I'm desperate for a HAL9000 to use as light switch in my workshop.

Thanks for the heads up guys.

I know its been ugly.. but its been a while since the last post and I was hoping someone has bought one of those holocron kits since then for a feedback

NEVER buy from this criminal.

You might as well toss you money in the toilet.

He is a recaster and sales the worst recastings out there.
these type of people never change. In fact they get worst and offer even more items.

IF you buy from him you are supporting a person that does not support the RPF or its values.

To take the Devil's Advocate, I bought the Jedi Holocron kit before I realized who and what he was. And it was okay. He shipped in a decent interval and all the parts were there.

But on the gripping hand (to thoroughly mix metaphors), it is 12 pieces of laser-cut acrylic. Not only is it hard to mess that up, there are plenty of places that can laser-cut something similar for no more than you would pay for this guy's kit (and probably less).
.
Something similar, like, oh ..the SVG files included in my own Instructable on my Holocon build. I even threw in my own version of the outer shell (the only part from his kit I ended up using) -- and doing that took all of thirty minutes to draw up in Inkscape.

Unless you care to support this guy for coming up with the idea of putting together a box from laser-cut acrylic (as far as I know, he thought of it), it makes more sense to just cut your own.

The originals where made via lazer cut. Don Bies devised two Jedi Holocrons and a pyramidal Sith Holocron for the VD
