thats awesome, where at in NYC is that? The building still looks great
I do believe it is the real sign they hung in the 2nd movie.
The building is n Tribeca. I think it is at the corner of Varick St and Beach St.
I believe they sell shirts of their logo with the ghost. It would make an excellent souvenir!
I will have to stop back and take a look. Maybe offer them money for th sign?
That's it. THANKS.
I'm compiling a bunch of Google Earth Movie locations.
God, visiting that was too cool!
You should definatly offer the chief some cash for the sign . . .they'd like to get rid of it.
You should also pay very close attention to that display case . . .looking at it made me tear up . . .as well as feeling like a goon in my flightsuit.
Quick history lesson, that building is the oldest operating house in NYC, built in 1904. It's needs some love.
The t-shirts rock. I'd be willing to Paypal you for a few. None of us Ohio boys had cash on us while we were there.
I've got probably 300 locations currently marked. With the street view, you can really see a lot of cool places.
I'll try to stop back and look into the t-shirts. I'll let you know if I am able.
@micdavis - do you have a site made with all these locations?
@Jediwannabe - I had no idea it was in Tribeca, next time im up in NYC DJing im gonna have to stop by

Friends of mine picked me up a shirt when they were in town for NYCC:
Back says "FDNY".![]()
Don't forget the building on 55 Central Park West.. Dana's apartment..
To list some of the rest:
New York Public Library
Schermerhorn Hall
Columbia University
Lincoln Center
Tavern on the Green in Central Park
Bank of New York
Some of the rest are in Los Angeles etc...
Yes, the back door of the Biltmore Hotel in Downtown LA was the Sedgewick, and the stairway up to Dana's apartment. Also the front doors and lobby were where Axel Foley checked in, in Beverly Hills Cop. As well as a few others.
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing the pics! I would love to get a shirt from there![]()
yea a shirt would be cool! Thats awesome that you were there, great pics to![]()
I'd also be down for a shirt or two, if it's not too much trouble (and if they're not absurdly priced).
Back in the late '80s / early '90s when I was a wee squirt, I was a huge Ghostbusters fan. My grandmother, who lived in Queens, was still alive at the time, and the family would go down there to visit her. Well, for one trip, my dad "surprised" me with a detour to that firehouse. I got to go inside, talk to the firefighters (who were really friendly), and even slide down the pole. This was back in the pre-internet days, so my dad tracked down the location the old-fashioned way by using landmarks in establishing shots of GB and GB2; I think there was one shot showing an entire storefront across the intersection from the firehouse that wound up being the main clue. For a nine- or 10-year-old kid, it was a blast. Think (and typing) about it makes me just a little misty, I'll admit.![]()
you can find the fdny shirts with the ghostbusters logo here...
