finding a big black crystal looking rock

ok.

im stumped, and i REALLY dont want to make this cause itll be a royal PITA.

im looking for a big (softball sized) black glossy crystal rock. im trying to replicate the silver kryptonite from season 5 of smallville. basically imagine a big rock with a few facets on it, and small silver squares over sections of it near the "base". the silver is the kryptonite.

ive been looking online, and on ebay for black crystals or really dark smoeky quartz but its getting to be a little on the $$$ side for a decent sized rock.

anyone have any other ideas? i need it to look like a glassy/crystal styled rock. if i can find a blue or red or quartz or something i can just spray paint it black, but i really want that feel of crystal.

any ideas appreciated.

If you have a frieght train track in your area you can usually just walk the tracks for a bit and find pieces that fell out of the cars...

nah, obsidian isnt really the "shape" im looking for.

its hard to tell with this pic (its post silver removal), but its a big semi faceted just... rock thing.

Hi, From that pic, it looks like it is almost definitely black tourmaline or a cast thereof. It occurs in natural clusters from which these are divided into terminated pendants for the jewel and New Age trade. You can get the single points cheap but for a cluster druse in the size you&#39;re after, you&#39;re probably going to have to pay a bit...
