Did anyone ever make the open version? I can't recall if the whole thing was done with CGI or just the parts where it opens up.

It looks too dirty. Maybe you should give it a silicone bath.

the dvd extras said the ends were cgi leaving just the top and bottom shell, you can kindof see the difference if you look close enough.

Looks really great man. Those kits came together really well. The paint job on the pod is really nice too. You got the overspray and splatter down really nicely. Awesome work.

Weird, I thought recasting was frowned upon around here. Sad to see it so blatantly and openly encouraged.

Fantastic work Zorg 5E is one of my all time favorite movies and the scene that introduces this weapon is just hilarious. Now you have to build four more to fill a replica of the box the ZF-1 comes in

Unless I have missed it Zorg didn't say what the built is based on and until you mentioned a kit one could as well have assumed that this was a custom build. So, there are kits of the ZF-1 out there or was this one of a kind? Where did it come from and did anyone make a run of it (if it's okay to share these informations)?

It came from me, and I did offer a couple of kits.

So are you saying that as long as it's not offered right now, it's ok to recast? I'm not going to participate (any further ) in turning this thread into a recasting discussion, as I think Zorg did a great job doing this build up, and showing it off is what this is all about. It just makes me sad that the knee jerk reaction of a member is to ask for a recast. I find that to be in poor taste, even if the kit did not originate from me.

I obviously must have missed that

Nope, not at all. All I wanted to say is that the person asking for a casting might not have been aware that this wasn't a custom build. I for one was just curious to hear about a kit, that's all.

Mr M, I gotta say, I read Funky Jedi's comment as no different as saying, "Thats sooooo good, I'm gonna break into your house and steal it". What you are inferring might not necessarily be what you're saying, if you get what I'm saying! It would've been a little less knee jerk on your behalf to say that you had built it and therefore is a no no on the old recasting issue, I don't think there was any malice or aforethought in the comment.
    Just my two cents....

    Johnny

P.s zorg, thats sooo good! I'm gonna break into your house and steal it

can we keep this thread on topic please......thanks

matt- thanks for your comments on the finish of the piece.

i had to restrain myself from doing panel line shading and weathering
as this is the look of the production pieces i had to leave it "clean"

i would really like to have or see a beat up grubby battle worn version.
