I'm really looking forward to starting my build, most of the stuff is on order! I think I have found a source for the 202 switchcraft button as well!
Ok I don't know if this helps anyone. I picked up one of the compack today. It is a little small for the 2 facplate I have here. It could be used but there is gap all the way round. Plus you can see the hing and the clap. If a small glap and the hing and clap isn't a problem then you could use it. Hope this helps.

Hi mark,
Where did you get the face plate from? Can you show us a picture of the gap?
Having trouble finding rotary switch with a low enough profile to fit in the case.
Anyone have any suggestions?
There is a picture of one of my Fransworth on page 31 of this thread. My post # 758. All the plate on that page is like one of the plate I have.! I don't have a picture of the other Fransworth. But the opening is the same. I also don't have a picture of the compack in the hole. I will see if I can get one up.

Remember to put the side plugs in AFTER the switch is in place or they may end up being in the way.
I had that problem on my first one.
My 2 Fransworths. The one on the left was made with the plate 1st offer here on the RPF. The plate was a present. It had lights and sound but it was a vioce recorder from target and it broke when I drop it. The one on the right was from the 2nd run here. It does have a ringer and the light flashes when ringing!

Ok here is a picture with the Dollar store compack. You can see a small gap around it. It could be use but you would have to glue it yo something to hold it in place. Plus you would see the hing and the claps.

That looks great. Although those two little tabs on either side of the compact lens have me concerned. If those tabs are on the inside of the compact they may still show up even after being spray painted.
Darth Saber yes if you paint the inside on the dome on the compact you will see the hinge and the clasp.Usless they are sanded off before you paint it. This will be hard but not impossible.

For the view screen I used a tap light on the one on the left. The one on the right is a vaccume formed lense I made. It is just sheet poly styreen. I polished it to make it look glossy.

What's a tap light guys? My knobs (left side) have turned up from a uk source, will post a pic let me know what you think!
I've managed to find that kind of knob, too.

The tap light I used on my 1st one (left in my photo) I found at Ace hardware. It is a little taller then I liked and they didn't have any more here. It was a incandescent light and they may have disccontinuded it.

When y'all use the taplight do you leave it as a working taplight?
Here is the link to the left knob I bought and it is exactly like the one used on the show.

All of my innards parts have come in! One more question...
The first sound module I got was from Radio Shack (the one that runs on a 9v). I don't care for the sound - too low. So I got this one for my second Farnsworth - Electronics Module http://www.electronics123.com/s.nl;j...0?it=A&id=2841 - Can an LED be soldered onto this board the same way?
