So i decided to try this again, my first attempt being all clay sculpt. But i think i will get a better symmetrical look from the MDF.

Here is the beginning so far.

After 4 hours of dremmling and really stiff neck --

Cool! I've always wanted to get into working with MDF. Can't wait to see more progress.

The beginnings of some texture. this is just the start. it will get better.
Also how the handle will fit perfectly into the head. this will allow me to cast them separately.

So i got a little time to do some more work. Still lots more to go, but it's starting to look rather nice. It's kinda cool to be working only in MDF, bondo and epoxy sculpt, weird to be doing something organic, but it's actually coming along good.

Slopped on bondo and then rested it on two or three fingers while i rotated it. just kept at it until it looked how i wanted.

A little more work. setting the crystal in. I lubed up the crystals with vasoline and then filled the holes with fiberglass jelly. Insert the crystals wipe the excess and wait for it to dry. then i popped the crystals out really easily. this is a great way to get a tight fit for two parts. i will have to go back over it and smooth it out.
it's not screen accurate, but 'm pretty happy with it.

Well, I am happy to report that this is finished! Just needs to get molded. This was a really fun build. i learned some new things and decided i like working with MDF and bondo.

For the spike i harvest some rubber spikes from a kids helmet. they are close enough for me. The crystals are done and in silicone as i type this.

i ran out of silicone :( i thought i had more than what i did. so this project is gonna get shelved for a bit until i can buy some more.
