I just put on the under-barrel and grip. Once it's dry and hard, I may add a nail or two to help hold it together and round the heck out of those edges.

I'l be moving onto the barrel itself next. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to make those vents on the side.

That's a really cool sawed off shotgun. And I like the way you built the MF cells just using PVC endcaps and epoxy. What size endcaps did you use. I've been thinking about building a laser rifle from Fallout 3. The hard part I thought I was going to have was the MF cell. But now that I've seen this thread, I hope you don't mind if I copy your work.

I used 1.5" end-caps. One was a regular, smooth, end-cap, the other side has raised grips on it. I would just advise you to paint with caution. f I had to do it all over again, I would have given everything a yellow coating, then just done the black on the bottom, then the red stripe. I ended p having to paint each about twice because of mistakes.

And the actual hardest part will be making the d**med stock. So many curves and holes, and the sanding, THE SANDING!!!!

Also, about the stock, I made mine end just around the trigger guard only because the size of MDF board I bought ended about 3 inches later. If you can, add in the length through the barrel grip to be the same piece as the stock, that way it distributes the weight of the barrel better.

I've started putting the body of the barrel together. I'll be adding the front and real Focal boxes on separate. By the end of this week, this should actually look like a rough laser rifle!

I added the Barrel to the stock. It felt good to hold it like a rifle. It's all starting to come together.....

Adding the bases to the barrel that I'm going to build the front and rear focus boxes from, and put in a PVC pipe piece that will serve as part of the MF cell holder.

I just got a dremmel....HOLY CRAP!! I love that little thing. I'm gonna be spending a bunch of time fine tuning different parts of this build now.

I realized today that I was out of any wood that I could actually use at this point for the build, so until I get more there won't be any updates.

But in the meantime, I gave everything I had done so far a coat of gray primer. It actually looks like a laser rifle now!

I'm putting together the rear Focus box for the AER10. I've got the LED components wired together and they're working. Just have some light design ideas penciled in for now. You may notice that this isn't the same as the AER9, and that's on purpose.

I'm building the back box different from the front in that I need to be able to open it and have access to the wiring and LEDs from time to time.

I got most of the gun put together! I just need to finish the front and back boxes, put on the dowel under the barrel and finish the paint job! Here's it as it is, with just a few splashes of spray paint on it so I could see how it'll be when it's done.

Time for a BIG photo update! I'd say that the build right now is at about 80% completion. I still have to finish the front box of the rifle, the dowel underneath, and the final paint ob and aging.
The first pic is of the front half of the barrel. I'm going to work out the imprints from my C-Clamps later.
Second pic is the back half of the Barrel. The MF Cell is being held in there by a strip of Velcro Tape that runs the length of the MF Cell and the holding area in the gun. I positioned it so that you can't see it from the top, and when I pull it out the right way, it looks like it was just nesting in there.
Third pic is of the stock, that's pretty much done as far as I'm concerned.
Fourth is a nice overall pic of the rifle as it is for now. Looking good!
Fifth pic is of the rear box. It's 90% done. Just a bit more paint on the top piece. The LEDs are all wired in and working.
Final pic is of the fron box. As you can see, it still has a way to go. You may also notice that I put a Nuka-Cola Quantum Cap on the front of the foregrip as a little personal touch.

Hope you all enjoy it! Any critiques or questions are welcomed!

    Jun 1, 2011 - UPDATE! #39

Hello everyone! Been a while since I last posted something, so I thought I'd fix that.
What I have for you today is a picture of me in my Fallout getup with the 85% completed AER10. As you can see, I made the barrel a little too thick, but whatever.

I'm debating whether to add it or not. I personally though they look like they always get in the way, but we'll see what happens as the build continues.

They're not that bad, actually - but the Tri-Beam Laser rifle in-game had a shorter barrel and no rod, like your build here.
