Evil Dead II/Army of Darkness replica chainsaw

Stripped the paint

Got the grill piece covered thanks to Venkman.
This coming Friday I'm getting the last of my supplies and attaching the T-Bolt and the muffler and then I have to wait a few weeks for the grill and BAM! On to distressing and blood.

Here are a couple pics of my master piece :angel. This and the Boom Stick were first prop builds, so I was pretty exited the closer I got to done, with less and less opportunities to mess it up beyond repair.

Sorry for ignoring your posts. Your saw turned out amaaaazing dude. Lots of peoples have. Goid work guys.

How did yer boomstick turn out?

Thanks. I still have not tweaked my handle yet. Maybe this year.

I used a lot of ideas from Indy Mogul's "Backyard FX" version. I had to scale down my aspirations to meet my time frame, so I had to eliminate the breakdown/ load mechanism and tighten it down to stay stationary. Using hand tools wasn't ideal, as alignment was a little off and called for a ton of sanding, fileing, fitting, and guessing what to adjust (again), but it came out okay. My front stock got a chunk out of it when it shot out of a chop saw while trying to trim it down and the stain I used didn't like the filler too much. While in the holster though, it looks pretty sweet as I was able to acquire and actual stock to use.

I am trying to work on the Gauntlet this year perhaps. I have a chain butcher's glove to mod, and some prototype plates for the fingers, but pop rivets won't fit through the chain, so I am working on a plan for a hand form so I can sew to an under-glove and cut the chain where I need to rivet. If successful at this, I will sculpt the back of the glove and cast.

That would be so badass

Got a new job so I should be able to finish it soon. Just need to mount the T-Bolt. Thinking about getting some kind of metal ring to wrap the clamp around so it's not just a dorky clamp hanging off the back (more like the wrist clamp attachment in AOD:

).
Also trying to get in contact with Venkman about that cursed grill piece so I can slap it on the saw and paint the whole thing to give it a dirty 'used' look (an idea I have for the saw to give it an offsetting macabre look is to paint up the chainsaw bar and chain with blood and flesh chunks and hang some strands of hair that might have got stuck in the chain after Ash sawed into Linda's dismembered reanimated head).

As far as my plans for putting the saw to use, I've decided to be a zombie/deadite version of Ash for Halloween if I can afford the things I need to garner for such.
The needed items are of course his shirt and pants and belt and watch... Then it's on to the boots, which I have a choice between...
Either the ones from Evil Dead II:

Or the ones from Army of Darkness:

My fiancee is going to be making the shotgun harness soon, just need to buy the materials, which I can pick up from Hobby Lobby (rivets and such) and a thrift store (canvas and leather belts) and luckily Zendragon here on the RPF has a few tips about piecing it together screen accurately:

Then I need to get my hands on a double barrel shotgun replica... I found a really nice one at a replica gun collector website but it's a coach gun and more western (has external hammers unlike Ash's) but for now it'll do, especially since I'm going to be a zombie Ash and I don't think I will be pulling it out of the harness scabbard very often due to this:

But I'd really like to get my hands on this shotgun, however I don't know really how to go about it, I think they rent them out or will charge the hell out of you if you inquire about purchasing the prop (even though this is exactly what Ash's boomstick looked like):

As far as anything else, I'm going to get a zombie face prosthetic from cfx and douse myself in blood and random wounds.

It's gonna rock.

Awesome. Can't wait to see it finished. You have been working on this a while, but I think you will find it well worth it.

Wow, looking great! Can't wait to see it finished. Good news for those interested, Silicone and resin are ordered and shipped, should have them next week then I'll be making grills.

I just got an old Homelite XL and am looking forward to modding it to go with my necronomicon, Ash bust and Evil Ash bust. So I'll be looking for molded resin parts soon...

My saw is pretty much finished aside from paint/distressing and the grill piece I'm awaiting... Going to post pics up probably today then there will be a bit of a pause unless I run by Home Depot to get better screws and plasti-dip for the side handle.

Anyway, I will take her apart and take pics of the work I've done since the last consecutive post so you can all get an idea of what's changed and how I did it (being that I've pretty much been detailed on all of the steps up until the final tweaks).

More of the work to be seen today.

Sorry for the delay and ****ty pix.

Anyway, I added a sheet of metal cut out with some tin snips to the motor bay area to attach the muffler piece to:

Also added one to the pull starter area to hide the inside and wearers hand:

Glued the muffler to the metal sheet:

Thinking about popping it off and regluing it because the ****er keeps turning on the nut that's attached to the metal sheet so readjusting it constantly is getting annoying. Might just add some hot glue behind the muffler as is to keep it positioned:

Bolted the t-bolt to the casing, which was kind of a ***** because our drill just would not puncture through the stainless steel. Ended up using a Whitney Punch to pop holes innit. Turned out pretty good:

With as long as this project has gone on and all the handling, the top plate has started to warp a bit and expose a small area where the casing was cut. When I get my accurate bolts I'm going to try and secure it down properly. If that fails I'm just going to end up gluing the thing down to the casing:

Should have the grill piece this week. Going to glue it to the body, re-plasti-dip the side black handle, get accurate bolts and then it's on to distressing and gore!
