This is a first I've ever seen for a prop from that film besides the Drac bust up on ebay. I just bought that movie not too long ago for $5.00 at WalmartThis will be a cool piece to own; great work so far Marc. Count me in, I'm interested in one

can't talk about prices in this section, but they won't be cheap considering that these will take about 8 hours a piece to make
I wasn't planning on cheap, but it'll be worth the wait to find out. Now to bump my post count enough to get my General membership or whatever
Just curious if there had been any movement on this very cool project.
Any progress on this? It looks great.
I recently learned some new info from someone who handled the original, will be continuing soon
With the new information i received from someone who handled the original (pages were aluminium, etched with raised letters), i did a test etch yesterday in aluminium. Pretty happy with the result.

Awesomely cool project. Personally I love this movie and I think I'm due for another viewing now.
I'll be watching the JY for this.

thanks peeps, it is nice to dust off this project, especially knowing i will be able to make it more accurate with this new info about the pages.
It being aluminium, also explains why there seems to be a whitish wash on them in the movie, it is light reflecting on the rough etched surface.
so current plan:
-pewter bookcover, nickelplated
-12 saline etched aluminium pages
-nickelplated back, with nickelplated brass hinge
-pressurecast red translucent gem in the hinge
-snaketail necklace
Very sharp. Still deeply interested in this project.
Likewise.
So all the pages will be etched from aluminum?
I wish more people knew about his film. This is such a terrific prop to build, especially with such detail. I can't wait to see the final build.
This looks too cool, will be following this!
Does anyone know who owns the original?
Hey LeMarchand, how's it going? What part of this are you working on now?
It looks fantastic. I'm glad that you were able to find a source for the original pages.
Exciting stuff! Love the film and love that prop!
I'd love to get one!
waiting for some materials to come in so i can do some more aluminium etching. Need to make a new mold for the cover as well so i can cast pewter copies
Cool.
This will be quite a unique prop once it's done.
I watched the film again this past weekend.
Rekindled my appreciation for it.
This is a really nice and unique piece.. Haven't seen the movie for so long.. Can't wait for results..
etching chemicals came in friday. Did some more saline etching late last night:
