Empire Strikes Back - Boba Fett Display WIP

I thought it was about time I began documenting the build up of my ESB Boba Fett display, this has been in the works for over 3 years, I have now finally begun putting it all together and the following photos show where I am at now, firstly you can see the parts displayed on my half mannequin, since those photos were taken I have begun the task of painting up the helmet in the ESB scheme - shown in the next few photos, over the next few days I will update this thread as the painting of the helmet continues and the painting of the armour begins, hope you enjoy

I will follow this thread with pleasure. Because of the lack of space i cant longer built up a lifesize statue of Boba and now want to make a bust display also Do you want to add the gaunts and a jetpack also. Or do you want to make a classic bust without arms?

Awesome! What paints are u using?

I am using a combination of Rogue Studios colours and some others suggested over on The Dented Helmet forum, the main colours are the RS ones, the more subtle ones are my choices matched as closely as possible to screen captures and the numerous photos of the ESB Hero helmet in the Art Of Star Wars exhibit

Another piece of the display is this sidearm which is a direct casting of a Pulce speargun which was the type of gun used in the Empire Strikes Back, this was made from a run over on The Dented Helmet, it has a resin body and aluminium center and barrel, I will shortly be getting hold of a copy of the Nemrod speargun holster to go along with this

** Update **

Over the weekend I have managed to get the mandible and trim area pretty much done, I started by masking the entire helmet except these areas and applying a thin layer of Tamiya fine surface primer, I then hit it with the Humbrol Silver number 11, following on from this I masked off the areas I wanted to show through with masking fluid and added the grey layer in 2 light coats, this was once again masked as well as the silver again before adding my red of choice, I went with Caboose as with my previous helmet, here it is now, all masking removed and a light buff with wire wool, there are a few areas I will go back and touch up topically as I wasn't 100% happy but I am pleased with the results especially as I was intending to do this helmet topically in the first place

Looks like a great start.

I had a slight (major) change of mind over this and decided to strip the whole helmet back and start again doing a fully layered paintjob, I felt it would be a more faithful representation of the ESB paintjob plus I was never really happy with how the topical damage showed up on the helmet, it was always a little 'lumpy' I am much happier now even though I wasn't when I was sanding the bugger down here are some updated photos, this is fully layered, and the last colour to go down will be the Panzer Olive Green on the dome and lower cheeks, I welcome any comments as always

Looking good there - I'd like to tackle a Boba helmet one day, ESB as well... of course!

Uhm? That's getting a little "sick" man You may want to start dumbing that down a bit or you might upset the Fett helmet paint God floating around here
