May 28, 2012 - eFX to distribute MiB III Licensed Props from SAT #1

Got this in an email blast from eFX earlier today!

We hope that you are having a nice Memorial Day weekend and will even have the chance to see Men in Black 3, the NEW #1 movie in America! (We know you already saw The Avengers . . several times!)

We are very excited to announce that we are the exclusive worldwide distributor for Studio Art & Technology's awesome new line of prop replicas as seen in Men in Black 3! Many of you saw these incredible props in our booth at Comic Con last year. Studio Art & Technology is the original prop maker for the film, so these replicas are as accurate as can be!

Since eFX is the worldwide distributor, these props will be available from our network of authorized retailers and international distributors, as well as direct from Studio Art & Technology's website.

Pre-orders for their first prop, Agent K's (Tommy Lee Jones) standard issue sidearm, starts Monday, May 28, 2012. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to place a pre-order on Studio Art & Technology's website. Delivery is anticipated for Winter 2012.

I am super excited about this because this is one of the few times we have seen the original manufacturer of a prop also be the replica creator (another example is Weta, who blew us away with their District 9 pieces that were straight out of the original molds).

We had a chance to talk to the guys from SAT at Comic Con last year and did a couple of videos with them about these props!

Comic Con 2011: Men in Black 3 Original Props from Studio Art and Technology - YouTube

Not only that, but we had the opportunity to take a ton of photos of the screen used pieces and have posted them in our gallery!

    A gorgeous prop indeed!
Still haven't seen the movie though. When I do, and if I like what I see on-screen, I may consider the purchase.
Honestly, I'm really waiting for the Avengers line from efx.

Having had a chance to hold these pieces (the originals) in person at Comic Con last year was a really interesting experience for me. I come from the Star Wars world of props, which is to say... pretty crappy props made of old items that are just glued and pieced together in a rather interesting way. It was absolutely incredible to see where the screen used prop world has come from in terms of Star Wars type props, to where it has gone to with the props SAT built for MiB III. These are barely even props... more like works of art. Because SAT has an unlimited ability to fabricate props in any medium with any manufacturing process you can imagine, these pieces are perfect in every way. They are metal, heavy, solid, working, perfectly symetrical, polished... just awesome! I am not a huge fan of the MiB series, but these props stand alone, regardless of the movie, as some of the best made pieces I have ever seen.

For those who are fans, the best part is that the same people who made those incredible pieces I descsribed above, are the people making the replicas. As I mentioned in my first post, like Weta selling the District 9 replicas, it is tough to get any better than that, when it comes to those of us who want to get a copy as close to the original as possible and never have to think again about upgrading in the future.

    What? WHAT? WHAT??!?!....My #1 weakness.... $600.00..... Dang it. . . . . . Of all the .. . . Son of a. . .

The trigger moves and it functions. Why did it have to be now?? The Neuralyzer is days away from shipping and now eFX is delivering a replica from the makers of the actual prop WITH A WORKING TRIGGER THAT HAS A FUNCTION! I can't do this anymore!

For me, the trigger working is a "meh" kinda thing (although they did move on the original pieces), but the fact that it is the same people producing them that made the originals that really seals it. I LOVE my District 9 ARC Generator because I know I can't get any better than what I have there.. that is just IT. The same goes here. No matter what replica the fans produce, nothing is ever going to come even close to what you can easily obtain through SAT/EFX and for me, that is a LOT of peace of mind.

I think he means the updated MIB 3 Neuralyzer. I'd love to have one of those, but I'd WA.t sound fx, which the original prop did not have.

Bingo. I have warmed up to all of the new designs and particularly like the new neuralyzer. I even loved the joke about the old neuralyzer. Do you think it was an in-joke about how the original props functioned?

As some of you already know, Studio Art & Technology is having some technical problems with their ordering system. Therefore, we will temporarily be accepting pre-orders on their behalf at our website eFx Collectibles

    We apologize for any inconvenience!

    Thanks!

I think you speak for more than a few of us!
    Anyone know the run number?
I also see PayPal is not a payment choice...
This prop is just plain sexy. It's like the Corvette of Sci-Fi weaponry and the Pulse Rifle would be a Hummer!
The main selling point for me is the pedegree on this just as much as the design and quality.
