Ok, so has anyone confirmed the price on this? I've heard some people say $1000. If thats the case, I have to pass. When a SS bust is 1300 I can't swing a lone helmet for that price.

So who do I contact for Fan made Vader helmets?

You don't only pay for a lone helmet. You pay for a pedigree. If you want a fan helmet of the same caliber, expect to pay around that amount too, or more.

The SS bust doesn't even compare with what eFX is offering here. Neither does cheaper fan mades.

I'm sorry if this had been addressed on earlier pages(browsing through c.phone, hard to read them all)

So the accurate version will be handpainted individually?

Can't wait!

I thought about the SS bust, and the Anakin head is cool, but this helmet is gonna be so accurate I think it's the way to go!

Agreed...

Don't forget it wasn't that long ago that DP CA helmets were selling for $500+...

Yeah the SS shouldn't even be mentioned in this thread.

Just get a Rubies if you can't see what makes this better than the SS.

Saw both versions in Orlando this weekend. Both are nice helmets. Again, way better than anything licensed.......ever for ANH Vader. I did see some of the same issues I noticed in photos but Bryan explained nicely how those issues will be corrected so no suprise there. The paint scheme seems to be set in stone, so for those who wish to make corrections after the fact, it won't take much to make you happy. There is nothing on the hand painted version that can't be fixed easily by the uber accurists around here. :)

Keep in mind that many of the screen bumps and bruises on the original helmet.....are gonna be missing from this product. So many of you with other helmets of proper lineage are not gonna be trading in your own helmets to get this one......but I think it has enough proper details to be a worthy addition to the completist collections. I will likely be adding this one to my own collection if nothing else to be the basis for some nice ESB/ROTJ version helmets. I may bump this hemet up the scale a bit after I see a finished product. Time will certainly tell. Enjoyed the hell out of the lengthy chats with Bryan and the other eFX Staff proper. Bryan in particular was very insightful about all aspects of the prop replicating process and what goes into bringing a licensed product to our hands. I have a new respect for what these guys do and why newer products are taking so damned long to make it to us. Let's just say that there are about 10X more hoops to jump thru for licensees nowadays. Perhaps just another by product of our current economy.

Somewhat related, got to see the various trooper buckets and lightsaber protos.....muppet protos and other Trek and Disney props. Though I have seen improvements on at least one of their trooper buckets, I still like fan made helmets better in some respects. For the average collector though, they are all superb products. All in all, this company does not seem to be cutting corners on quality. They really are pushing hard to preserve as much accuracy details as they possibly can. They seem to be making necessary compromises only for the purposes of actually making these incredible toys a reality for us big kids. They have to please the masses first and foremost. :)

I believe the ballpark for release was April, and as Dave said a late fall pre-order period.

Was really a sweet looking piece in person and Bryan was nice enough to spend a long time chatting about it and many other things, really enjoyed getting his point of view on things.

I got to study these in person for some time. My first impression was correct however I would furthermore add that this is not as accurate in both features and details as I hoped. That aside I stand by it being worth a purchase as it remains a good product for an official release.

It's a protoype. Who knows what direction they will or will not go with accuracy. The thing is still a looooong ways off, and I am still sold.

I really hope it does end up as an order very late fall 2010. That's probably the only way I'd be able to swing getting it :confused

Hi guys

when I talked to Gino at CV, Orlando at the eFX-stand, he stated that there be around 100 helmets produced -accurate version- (maybe 150, depends on demands)... and a whole bunch of idealized...

range 900$ to 1200$...

hope this helps...

and Gino is a great guy to talk to...

cheers, Clint

too bad I did'nt meet any other RPF'rs...
