Not sure if this is a replica or perhaps one of the original film cars, but a buddy of mine saw this on his way to work this morning and snapped a picture of it on his cellphone. Seen at the corner of Centinella and National near the Santa Monica airport.

It's not a very clear photo, so probably not easy to tell if it's a screen-used car unless it has really obvious tells.

Kind of a cool thing to see just driving around on the streets, though!

(edited to correct the spelling of "ecto" )

Did the Teel family ever get their Ekto1 started? Maybe this is them?

Definitely a replica - the logos are way too large.

The logos do look a bit large, particularly the one in the back.
Still looks cool though, must have made a few people look.

I drove by a parked vintage ambulance in Santa Monica the other month that looked very close to the model used in GBusters... In fact, I nearly turned around to see it up close but opted not to since I was running late... maybe this is the same car with a bit of work done to it?

In any case, does anyone know the member that owns it? I'd love to get a pic next to it with my pack on!

Yeah, I have seen a Ecto on Ocean Park and 30th in Santa Monica. It's parked there in front of an autobody garage.

    Jedifyfe,

I used to work across the street from that body shop on Ocean Park and 30th. Used to see that cadillac / Ecto replica for a couple of days. I'm not an expert on the original but the replica they were cleaning up looked amazing.

It's been at least two years and I'm still kicking myself for not borrowing a camera.

It's a members here, and is going in for its body work. And for the love of all things haunted, it's ECTO!

Hopefully the member will chime in!

OFF TOPIC - Makes you realise how small the world really is when a non-board member sends a photo to a friend, who happens to be a member of a forum that the car owner also is a member of.

Am I the only one finding that weird?!

Even more so - it must be weird for the owner to drop in on this thread and see a pic of himself driving along the road!!

Big Brother is always watching you (especially if you've got a car that stands out from the rest!&#33

ON TOPIC - very cool to own one of these - what sort of price do "plain" ambulances sell for nowadays?

That's great, I'm sure it turned heads that day! The media here in the UK has been quite hyped up over screen vehicles recently, one of the Reliant Robins used in 'Only Fools and Horses' and an original tv series Batmobile are coming up for auction. It's been getting a lot of press.

By the way, can anyone tell me what make and model vehicle was used to make Ecto 1? ..Not that I'll be making one anytime soon, just curious!

I don't believe that's V71's car. I think that might be CaptainAmerica's car (joseph) because of the oversized ghost on the back. The one that Jedifyfe is referring to in the Cadillacs place IS v71's car because that's where most of the work was done.

That's V71's Miller Meteor (yet to undergo conversion). It spends some time at the Caddy repair place in Santa Monica near my parents house.

Brendan- I'm crazy but not THAT crazy... that's a project WAY outta my league.

And as other's have said, that is VK71's newer car, it's the correct model and is being rebuilt as we speak! The paint job and logos were already on the car when he purchased it. I've only seen and ridden in his first Ecto, can't wait to see this one finished!
