You know they sure look a hell of a lot easier to make out of a set of molds....I get the feeling we are going to be seeing alot of these made for real rather than CGI...and I bet after the episode all the nay sayers will be wanting one of their own...

That's exactly why I don't like them, they look like they were cheaply cast en masse.

i dont know how many of you have seen the last design close up maybe at a dr who exhibtion in london or cardiff but i have seen the ones in cardiff and have been inches from them ,they are really well built and look for want of a better word real, they are beautifully finished and to be honest even though i have never been a big dalek fan i like these but the newest ones do look really cheap from what i have seen
i hope i am proved wrong and they work on screen but so far they are not inspiring me in any way to go wow
and i hope they dont mess with the cybermen the current costumes are great and hold up to close scrutiny even from a few inches away

if you have not seen the exhibition in cardiff go see it
    for all you taffs

Personally, I'd rather they had made new Cyberman costumes so they could drop the Cybus versions and bring back the real ones from our universe. The real Cybermen from Mondas have still to be seen in this series.

After going over the pics again and again I actually am strtibg to like them, the retro looks is growing on me, well always have the ones before I see nothing wrong with introducing the new, and they don't realy seem cheep to me, clean lines and molding, and the bottom I believe is a rubber bumper of some sort, that's why all the scuffs

How much longer will it be there, and is the Tennant era stuff still on display? I'm going to Cardiff in January and really want to see a few things there in person.

amen or something to that effect! I really want to make a remote controlled full size dalek some day. i wish they would do a more steam punk version of theses though if that is the case and give them more angle but with tank treads

Wasn't the Dalek in Manhattan pretty steampunk?

love the new dalek design. At first when you watch them (even if you like then like I do) they look a bit 'odd' - I guess it's what you're used to... , due to them all being different angles and proportions etc... especially when compared to the RTD era ones which were basically the original design but more 'battle tank' like.

These new ones are like a brilliant mix of retro 60's daleks and futuristic iPod daleks. I love 'em.

One thing I didn't realise at first though until Jane pointed it out... these new ones are MASSIVE. I thought it was camera angles and just the illusion of proportion that was doing that, but these are wayyyy bigger. (they also talk about that in the Confidential program that is shown after it - also the daleks look less plasticky and more solid in the shots where they were showing the dalek performers learning how to 'drive' them)

    overall.... LOVE IT!

I'm so glad they don't look nearly as bad in the episode. The writing was a bit better this time around, too. Then again, Moffat didn't write this episode.

I've seen the episode and they look much better in that than the bulgy picture suggests. In fact I'd go so far as to say it is the best Dalek story ever and these designs worked really well in context, so don't condemn them before you see the episode. teh gun details are really cool as well as some other stuff I can't mention or it would ruin it for you.
Best Dalek story ever? You're kidding, right? I thought it was pretty bloody awful.

I thought the episode was only ok. I thought it was the weakest so far of the new series. The guy playing Churchill really hammed it up and the episode was kind of an uneasy mix of light hearted corniness and fierce emotion that didn't work well to me. I know Doctor Who is just about always light hearted corniness and fierce emotion, but it jumped from one to other other so abruptly and so often it was kind of jarring.
Matt Smith continues to impress me, though.
ANYWAY, the Daleks themselves looked pretty good but I gotta say I liked the RTD versions better. These new ones are just so... clean. And I know they're pretty fresh off the assembly line and all that but I really can't imagine them as front line fighters. I suppose there could be other versions we haven't seen yet that are better suited for grunt work, but these seem a bit too "pretty" to me.
Plus as a prop replica enthusiast (with limited resources and budget) I liked the almost cobbled together look of the RTD Daleks. Almost like they were covered with found objects (even if they weren't) or you could make one if you really wanted. These new ones are just so polished and precise and look a bit like big hunks of molded plastic.
They're still good looking, though, and I can't wait to see more of them.

I thought they looked very like the old Dapol toy Daleks, with the "neck" slatted section much too thin for the "skirt". Not too bad in the episode though.

Love the louvres and the big bumper.

Tallest Daleks ever though - look to be about six feet. Gotta be roomier for the operator inside.

The only thing I like about these new Daleks is the increased height to make them taller. Unfortunately that's about it. I'd love a return to the cold, dark Grey & Black of Genesis Of The Daleks - properly scary.

So, they are bright primary colors and all bulgey now?

These seem more like TOYS of Daleks, than Daleks. Not scary at all.

I've seen some spoiler pics somewhere the change made for this series seems to be the big "C" is off and a new logo of a stylized Cyberman head is in it's place. Otherwise they look the same.

I always assumed that rather than really 'invent' them in the alt RTD universe the evil wheelchair guy just prolly captured a Mondas one, reverse engineered it and called it his 'invention'.
