Looking for some good reference material. I'm looking to probably pick up one of these and I'd like to see how they're supposed to look.

    Thanks!

I believe there are photos of the original on the RAC website, along with a description of how the prop was made. Good luck! That is one of my favorite phasers - cheers to ILM for a consistent design theme.

    Rich's website is:

    www.racprops.com

I just picked up one of his ST3 phasers from Rod.com. A little pricey but very nice. Looks pretty much dead on to me.

They have photos on the site:

    www.roddenberry.com

    It's in the store section.

The problem with a prop that has been recast from each previous model every time it goes through an upgrade is that there is shrinkage from the original size. For example, I bought a first generation ST3 klingon communicator at the 20th aniversary ST convention. Years later I saw the same prop from the same maker with upgrades and it had lost about 3/8 of an inch in lenth. The most shrunken tell tale part was the norelco rotohead dial.

Is there any chance of Rod.com releasing a kit version of this prop?

I've heard rumors that a kit will be offered but nothing official. In fact I heard those rumors months ago on another board.

Whenever I ask the folks at Rodd.com about new kits I tend to get very vague answers.

Doubtfull that a kit will see the light of day. But to be sure, go to the source and ask RAC Props.
