    May 28, 2010 - Dalek!!! #1

Thought I would post some pics of the Dalek I built.

It's built like the Daleks from the late 70s early 80s. Paint is inspired from the command Dalek from the (Extreamly bad) movie Abducted by the Daleks. I like black and gold.

At Dragon*con before I added mesh and slats to shoulder section.

    After the crash at Dragon.

Inside. Padded seat. Vid screen to see what camera in eye sees. Voice changer to sound like a Dalek. Cooling fans for me. Powered wheel chair to move about.

Looking up into the head section.

After the crash, all damage was repaired and the mesh and slats I had originally wanted were added. The Dalek attended a Doctor Who con last year.

    Fun at cons

Amazing! I love it. And I may have to build something identical, if you don't mind. (Different exterior, similar interior)

I love the dalek exterior and the interior is increadible, It would be amazing if you could get an electric airsoft gun set up so that it fires out of the gun arm.

Dang, this is very cool. I love the fact you can ride around in it too. Great job.

Having Ianto in a picture with it is also very cool

I already know that a Dalek (RTD era) and a TARDIS (11th Doctor) will be future builds for me.

    Thanks everyone.

It took me several years of on again off again building to complete. Got it done just in time for Dragon*con 08. I was quite ambitious about what I wanted to do with it.

I was trying to get the Dalek to the staging area for the Dragon*con parade. The sidewalks of Atlanta were not as smooth as I hoped they would be. At one point I had to get the Dalek across a bad part of sidewalk. Would not make it with me inside so I was operating the controls from outside. The Dalek is not meant to be operated with the top opened. A bad bounce and the chains that keep the top from over rotating broke. The shoulder section flipped back, ripped the hinges loose, and crashed head first to the ground. I piled everything back on top of the skirt section and made my way back to the hotel.

I spent the next year making repairs and upgrades. I learned from the experience and the next con the Dalek went to I had no problems.
