Just wanted to show some close ups of this base I made, I have pics of the base in another thread I have about a Chewbacca I made but here are some pics for the guys who haven't read that thread

The pics show the base with the lights off, then with the lights on and finally with the lights on and the overhead light off.

    That's fantastic.

I would really like to make a base like that for my Vader - any chance of a quick tutorial?

I made a similar lifesize display stand some years back.
. Mine was quick and dirty, not nearly as nice as Riley's.

Actually in my other thread about Chewbacca I have discussed how I made it however if you don't get a chance to read that thread here is what I wrote

The base was a complete bear to make! lol Let me see if I can explain how it is made, the grate is 1/8 inch masonite with slots cut in it. I went with the thin board instead of thicker board because in the movie it is very thin and I am guessing was metal. On the back of that is 1/8 inch plexi which I then painted the back orange using spray paint. The base is MDF board with sides out of MDF, the front and back are sheet styrene glued down. The front sheet of course cut out with thin clear plastic on the back painted orange.

It is illuminated using a fluorescent light. Now the hard part was to get Chewbacca to stand on this, it cannot support a person since it only has a few braces in it to keep the top up so what I did was add metal pipe flanges in the base, have pipes running up to another flange with bolts coming out of those flanges. The feet and ankle of Chewbacca are bolted to those so in essence Chewbacca is not even standing on this base he is just "hovering".

Now is all that as clear as mud? Sorry that I am not very good at explaining my work but that is about the best I can come up with

Beautiful work... and an ingenious solution to the problem of having Chewie "stand" on a base that cannot support much weight. Very nicely done!

Saw it in the other thread. Great close ups! And thanks for the tips on making one. It would make a great display base for several characters.

Thanks again guys for the kind comments The nice thing about this base is it would work for just about all of the ESB characters, from a Trooper to Boba, Vader or Lando. You could even do Luke, Leia or Lando

I was thinking since it's kind of "pie" shaped, it would be cool to do a bunch of figures on them and arrange them with the bases touching and making a semi-circle in the middle of the room...all I need is about $500,000 to pull it off with.
