    Oct 22, 2008 - Can I 'score' 0.10" brass sheet? #1

I need to cut some square sections from 0.10" brass sheet. I'm used to using the score with a craft knife and snap technique on styrene sheet. Anyone know if this will work with the brass, or do I need to use snips?

Snips will cut it, but will put a curf on the edge. You may have to finish each edge off with a file or sandpaper on a flat surface depending on what application you'll be using the brass in/on.

Are you talking about 0.10 or .010? One is a tenth of an inch, the other is one-hundredth of an inch. The difference is the thickness of a quarter or a thick piece of paper.

I was kinda thinking the same..... 0.10 is pretty thick brass sheet. And if indeed you are trying to cut .010 then yes you could "score" it with a good utility knife with a good backing....say a hardwood cutting board.

    This should have read 0.010!

    Not used to imperial measurements
