Hey everyone. After six years of building props/replicas for fun I thought I'd try my hand at sharing my builds via video.

I'm hoping to release a couple of videos a week. My first one's online and ready for your viewing pleasure:

Two projects in this episode: crafting a couple of Batman Begins props (Batarang and throwing star) as well as constructing a mold box for the Who Framed Roger Rabbit toon pistol.

Feedback is welcome, obviously I want to provide content that's both entertaining and valuable.

Hey Snow Builder, thank you for the video, it was great can't want for the next one!

Hey Snow Builder, thank you for the video, it was great can't want for the next one!

Thanks for the positive feedback, I'm editing the second today and hope to have it posted soon.

Current progress: I filed the gaps in one half of the Toon Pistol mold box and let it dry over night, then finished painting the Toon Dum Dums. Most of the bullets were just awaiting detail.Several of the castings had significant air bubbles. I used some of the same plumbers epoxy I used to fill gaps in the mold box to fill-in the air bubbles and sand everything smooth.
I'm experimenting with different kinds and shades of paint. I'm not sure which ones I like more (feedback is welcome).

Nice! I will be watching out for the next Video! Thanks again!

Re: C.E.P. Prop/Replica Building Videos - This week: Batman and Who Framed Roger Rabb

Thanks Post Office.

I had an order come in for one of my Mars Attacks Pistols. This piece is incredibly time intensive -casting cleanup, assembly and a lot of time with an airbrush.

For shipping it was wrapped in bubblewrap and the package filled with air-packing. The buyer just returned it as damaged during shipping. The prop was broken in not one, but two, places. You can see from the condition of the box that this package was not treated well.

Gahhh, mishap on pouring the 2nd half of the toon gun mold -have to pull the mold box apart and see what's salvageable.

Re: C.E.P. (Crazy Eric Projects) - Episode 2 now available for your viewing pleasure

Fortunately, no major disaster with the mold -just a clean up and finished it up.

I got the first pull from the mold -I'm very pleased. There are some bubbles across the bottom of the barrel and grip -but rolling the mold on the next casting should take care of it.

Here's the cast next to the original:

I like the video's snow Builder. dumb little question If I may. what exactly did you do around the light on top of the Tardis with your air brush? to get the halo effect.

Thanks for the compliment. Not sure how well you can see, but at 2:10 I lay in concentric circles -starting from the inner ring and working outward.

I start with very little paint (to make sure I have a ring I'm happy with), then increase the flow as I repeat the circle until I'm happy with the level of opacity.

Did this help?

Glad to help!

I've got tons of footage, but my old computer isn't up to the editing task. I bought myself a shiny new Mac, but getting all the relevant files and apps moved/installed is sucking valuable time. Hope to have the next video up by this weekend.

In the mean time, a little progress on the display case prototype:

Cutting the basic shapes

Laying in clay

A lot more clay and clean up to go, but it's starting to take shape.

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone.

Thanks, I hope you had a good one. We did a deep-fried turkey and I think it's the best one I've done so far.
