Buyer Beware : DocTony / Warrior Cosplay wilsoncosplay on ebay & Etsy Krasz Zan Zanti

In the years on here, this is the first such post I feel obliged to make, and doing so only so that members here would be in a position to evaluate risking if to go through the same things I (and others) did with member DocTony aka wariorcosplay & wilsoncosplay on ebay, WarriorCosplay on Etsy aka Warrior Cosplay on Facebook, aka Krasz Zan Zanti aka Tony Lewis.

My first dealing with Tony was in 2012 when I bought and received an item with no problems.

Then, in January 2013 I bought something else. After asking about the shipping, he said it shipped ‘last Monday’. I asked him for the usps code. No reply. After another reminder to give me the code I completely forgot about it, and only remembered over a month later. When I asked him for the customs / tracking code, having had to send him various PM’s with no answer, he finally replied that did not have it, not even a mailing receipt from the post office. More time went by, and I still got nothing. More unanswered messages later, he then told me he would send a replacement and would mail it the next day and give me the tracking code. Several days and several unanswered messages later, despite him browsing the board every day, he told me that it was mailed but he didn’t have the tracking code at hand and would do so that evening. He said his browser's default was the RPF so it showed him on-line whenever he opened it. However, I 'saw' him all that time browsing various individual threads. So, more unanswered messages and several days later, he replied that it wasn’t mailed, and would do so the next day. I told him not to bother and to please give me refund. Several days later, nothing of course. More unanswered messages later, he said he would do it that weekend. Several unanswered messages later, and a warning from me that I would take the matter further without further communication, I finally got the refund. That saga lasted some 2 and a half months. I can’t remember off-hand where, but there were mentions of ‘my wife has the code, I’ll get it later’ and a few other ‘normal’ excuses as we have seen many times. I still have all the messages saved but can’t be bothered to go through them to be honest.

To be clear, I never received the original item he said he had mailed, and personally, I very much doubt if it was ever sent.

Fast Forward a year later to 19 April 2014. I saw an item on ebay from a newly-registered seller, but with a hideously expensive shipping rate, so messaged him to see if he could ship it with a cheaper rate. He replied saying he had one on his Etsy page. The feedback there at that time looked OK. On Etsy, I recognized some other photos I knew were Tonys’, and asked him if he was DocTony on the RPF. He said yes. I said who I was, and reminded him of the incident a year earlier. He replied promising to take good care this time. “I will take care of you this time I promise, I changed shipping companies”. I said I’d trust him again and bought the item from Etsy (yes, I know, my fault, brain-fart / neurons misfired. It happens to the best of people). He replied that “OK great, take care of this today” (Saturday).

And the same story started. Heard nothing on Sunday so I asked him when he would ship. He said Wednesday. Heard nothing on Thursday, sent reminder. No reply to reminders in as many days. He finally replied on Sunday 27 April that it had gone out on Friday 25, and he would send me the code on Monday, because he was ‘out of town’.

Sent him a reminder on Monday (morning his end), and in the afternoon he said “there is no weekend mail porch pickup so I shipped it myself this afternoon”.

He finally sent me the tracking code.

One week later, on 04 May, the parcel shows up ….. in Spain (I am in Malta). My registered address on Etsy and Paypal are the same, and correct.

I told him about this, he checked with USPS, and they told him the parcel is being re-sent to him for the correct address.

Between 8 May, till this very day, 04 June, the parcel has been bounced around all over the USA and hasn’t been sent back to him yet.

See for yourselves

https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input?strOrigTrackNum=LC513766219US

So is this USPS’s fault ? Did he get his address wrong on the parcel too ? Did he deliberately put both address incorrectly just to give me a code knowing the parcel would vanish into USPS limbo and he could blame them ? Let me think positively and say its USPS's fault.

Quite frankly, this was 'none of my concern'. It is up to the seller to sort things out with their shipper.

I told him that due to the Paypal time-limit, to please refund me the money, and the moment he had the parcel back and was about to re-ship, I would pay him again. Or he could mail me a replacement, and just keep the one that got back to him. He thought this was a good idea, and said he’d mail one out over the weekend of 08 May. Of course, I heard nothing, and when I asked, he replied that he had said “I’ll mail one out if I have one”. Which of course is rubbish, as he just said he’d mail one, not if he had one. Anyway, moot point, as the 45-day Paypal limit was fast approaching, so I asked him for the refund again on 24 May.

His reply was “ALAN, if I were to transfer money into the paypal account for a refund for you it would take 3 or 4 days, the package will be here on Monday and it will be resent, I do not know why you are treating me as if am ripping you off.”

My reply was “Tony, I am not saying you are ripping me off. It's what I do with any seller. I protect my money. Nothing else implied.”

6 days later and no refund received, on 30 May, I opened a dispute in PayPal that item not received. I asked for the item, a replacement, or a refund.

Yesterday, out of the blue, Paypal themselves escalated the dispute to a claim. Now waiting to see what happens.

That was MY story. However, I do not seem to be the only one.

My second review is Krasz Zan Zanti (Etsy - Your place to buy and sell all things handmade, vintage, and supplies). This is gonna turn into more of a story with its length.
I contacted Krasz on 3/26/14 to order a large list of items. A Klingon Sash with Tai Pin, Rank pins, Holster and gauntlets (I ordered both in Holster and Gauntlets in black)
3/30/14 I verified the information. I asked when He could have it delivered. He said the following Wednesday. I was shocked it was so quick and i asked him about it, he said he had a few days off work and was able to get them done. I informed him I would paypal him the worked out price the following day (I did)
3/31/14 sent payment with the order listed in paypal again, and asked him to notify me of any delays past Wed (4/2/14). He agreed.
4/2/14 I asked for an update (since he said it would be shipped) response I got "Working on it" on 4/3/14
4/8/14 asked for update, was told it was shipped, I asked for a shipping number. He said he would look. I asked 4/10/14 for shipping number again, response: will check tomorrow
4/13/14 no response from Krasz, I asked again. on 4/14/14 response: "Sorry I have had family in town and its been crazy around here, they have been staying with me and driving me nuts. I will get you your shiping information once I get home tonight, what was the city you were in?" no number that night.
4/17/14 Started getting fustrated, messaged again asking for my tracking number, said he kept me up to date by his personal facebook posts (which were vague) he asked me about my order and only listed half of it. I corrected him. and he said he was now family free and to give him that night.
4/18/14 (at night) I asked him, no response, 19th, he got back saying he will check and tell me that afternoon,
4/20 I threatened to dispute and get my money back by paypal, complaining about not receiving the items, tracking number and been being blown off (I was PISSED)
4/21 He gave me a tracking number It turns out he didn't ship it when he said he did. I asked about this, he tried to say it was due to the family, I confronted saying he said he said it was sent. he said he was mistaken.
4/23 I got a shipment, it had no rank pins, and a grey holster, and no square pin for sash, (as shown on etsy) it also came with a triangle shaped pin with a klingon skull on it (I didnt order he said it was a upgraded sash pin for the delay that i didnt ask for, I wanted the square) He said he would send them.
The sash looked amazing, I had to connect the bottom, with gorilla glue to hold it together. The Grey holster looked great as did the black gauntlets.
5/1/14 I asked about status of the missing pieces, and I told him I am now a week away from a con and he said he would have them shipped the next day.
5/6/14 I asked him if they were shipped, he said that afternoon he will.
5/8/14 (day before Marcon) Later in the evening I confronted him, after alittle back and forth he said he would over night them to the hotel. and would message me the tracking, no message, no package.
This morning I asked about the package he said the shipping number was on paypal. it was delivered today. the package is missing the Navy Pin ( part of rank pin) the holster wasnt glued down well on bottom and the top stitches are falling out (both pictures) The rank pin I got is bent and feels like plastic or rubber. (Picture for that too and 1 for what i received)
While I was typing this he asked if I got the package, I explained above. He argued I received the navy pin, he didnt see an issue that the thread was coming out because it was cosmetic not functional (he glues the top trim down). the bottom he said he didnt use enough glue. The rank pin he didnt understand how it was bent. He argued I received the wrong rank pins on the first shipment so I already go the navy pin (I didnt get any collar rank pins, not the navy nor the rank pin) After all this he said regarding the holster "OK If you will return the 2 you have I will send another you can have pictures of it before I ship and have final say on how it lookas" (he did offer to pay for me to ship these items to him)
I wont be sending them back, I am done dealing with a mess that took over 45 days to settle. After speaking with other members through this timeframe, including members of the KAG ship in Indianapolis, members of IKF, and a Klingon at Marcon (Convention I went to this weekend), this seems to be a common issue.
From my dealings with Krasz, I would recommend not doing business with him. (I should have listened to other people who said this) Also I have the conversation With Krasz saved in a word Document to prove this.

I know this person has been mentioned before, but I just wanted to reiterate since I had not had a reason to, but I do now. KRASZ ZAN ZANTI is not a reliable or considerate source for anything Klingon. He charged me $55 for some gauntlets that should have been perfect for that price! When he said he'd make up for his mistake, he kept putting me off on a replacement item he had promised. He outright lied to me last week when he said he'd sent the items. They would have arrived by now. He is without honor. All should be warned.

After lengthy discussions with my XO in the Quartermaster division, and him having extra lengthy discussions with the individual in question,I hereby declare Krasz Zan Zanti unreliable and dishonorable as a craftsman, and therefore no longer welcome as a supplier in this group. Krasz has broken the 3rd rule of KAG ("Do Not Embarrass KAG."), AGAIN, both here AND in other related Klingon groups, If you choose to deal with him in the future, you do so at your own risk. Be warned. His quality of customer service and craftsmanship goes up and down worse than a Duncan Yo-Yo.

Jeremy Cowan You've had a worse experience than I've had, but even my experience was poor. My items were all good quality and I was happy with them once I got them, but shipping was a huge problem. Every few days he had a different excuse so that it got to the point where I neither cared nor believed. When I did finally get a shipping number from him (after the date I should have already received it), it was just the computer registration. The shipping service didn't actually receive the package until more than a week after he sent me the tracking number (does he not know that we can use the tracking number to see if the package has actually been sent?). He included a couple trinkets to try to appease me and he offered to sell me some other stuff at a discount. I don't intend to purchase from him again.

There is the old klingon saying to be ware of the klingon who does NOT show his face, for he has no honor...

CONCLUSION

To be perfectly clear : I am not saying Tony is a scammer.

Let me be kind and say that the general impression is that he wants to get things done / right, but he is a master (with honours ) in procrastination, spontaneous and invented excuses that result in self-contradiction, and a disorganised, unreliable seller in general.

Deal with him at your own risk / sanity tolerance level, and, since the mileage varies greatly, be prepared to play Russian roulette with what you order.

To be extra clear - If Paypal refunds my purchase, and IF I ever receive the current shipment, I will of course, irrespective of any and everything, pay Tony back on the spot upon receipt of the goods.

I was sorely tempted to post something back in 2013, but decided to write it off in my mind. However, with this second experience, and having been in touch with another member here who is currently 'out' and / or dissatisfied, to the tune of almost $600 for messed-up goods / undelivered orders (plus 3 years of being messed around with), as well as others' experiences as described above, I feel a heads-up is in order for the good of the board.

(Apologies for any grammar or spelling mistakes in this post as i didn't bother to go through it)

Edit / Add : Some Feedback from Etsy, or how to play Russian roulette with your purchase.

For the records, Paypal has just refunded my purchase in full.

The following, of course, still stands, albeit the parcel is still in limbo.

Re: Buyer Beware : Member DocTony aka Warrior Cosplay on ebay & Etsy aka Krasz Zan Za

It never ceases to amaze me how easy it is for some people to enter the business of just completely bull****ting others, especially in regards to wares and services. If you feel there's a realistic shot you can't meet your "deadline" or fulfill your obligation on a sale, just be up front about it. No amount of flim-flam will ever cover your ass or reputation. The truth comes out and it's a stinky cologne. We all know life tends to rear its ugly head at the most inconvenient times when it comes to hobbies and projects, and I personally would be more than willing to accept a (reasonable) delay on an item I paid for if the seller had a solid reputation. In the world of buying and selling, your reputation is your beating heart.

Glad you got your money back. I'm new here but I'm glad to see posts like this so I can avoid the headache of dealing with these ripoff's who are either A - Deliberately conning you or B - Get in over their heads and aren't up front about it, choosing instead to give you the run around either hoping you forget about it (I won't) or that you get tired of dealing with them and just drop it (I won't).

Re: Buyer Beware : Member DocTony aka Warrior Cosplay on ebay & Etsy aka Krasz Zan Za

Wow, what an odd series of events. It's sad that things didn't work out purchase wise, but refunded monies is as good an outcome. I just checked that UPS tracker, still bouncing around Texas apparently, how very strange :/

Ordered a Klingon Bloodwine Mug from that member a while ago and never received it. Paypal did not refund the money because the item was an "individual production" (from a run... :rolleyes ). All arguing was futile.

So sorry to hear it seems you got hit with one of his Russian Roulette bullets Michael :(

Did you contact him about this ? It'll probably take you half a dozen pestering emails to get a response of "I was out of town" (his favourite one) or "I'll send out another one" ... and then hear or get nothing ...... yada yada yada ...... yawn.

As I said in the OP, same thing happened to me with the first mishap from this guy, and I only got a refund after a month or so, when I put my foot down and told him I was going to take the matter further.

If you get no response, contact the mods Michael.

Re: Buyer Beware : Member DocTony aka Warrior Cosplay on ebay & Etsy aka Krasz Zan Za

Sure there are. Did you contact the mods ? He either makes good on the sale, or they'll ban him. If he doesn't care, well, at least there will be the satisfaction of not having him around here any more to mess around with other members.

Re: Buyer Beware : Member DocTony aka Warrior Cosplay on ebay & Etsy aka Krasz Zan Za

Mods always ask that you don't contact through PMs as they can't get to those as fast as hitting the "report post" button in the lower left of your post.
Click the report button and in the "brief description" section of the report, give the info you need to tell them.
You will get faster attention and swifter action from mods by going that route ;)

That works for me. I have to admit his accommodation for there was no compelling reason (except from this thread) to do so.
I commented the feedback given for him and for me this matter is closed.

Re: Buyer Beware : Member DocTony aka Warrior Cosplay on ebay & Etsy aka Krasz Zan Za

there was no compelling reason (except from this thread) to do so.

You naturally have a Paypal proof of payment to him. I also assume you had no tracking / customs code / number. That would be compelling reason enough.

Your case was pretty 'straight-forward'. The background of this thread cements it.

You were simply the victim of yet another Russian roulette cock-up from him (as many others were on FB, etsy etc), so I am glad to see that you are now OK :thumbsup

Re: Buyer Beware : Member DocTony aka Warrior Cosplay on ebay & Etsy aka Krasz Zan Za

Oh, and just to make matters clear, I did not contact DocTony regarding this refund that happened.

Just in case anyone thinks I am a magic worker of refunds on deals gone bad, or a mod, I'm not :lol !
