Building an Aliens Motion Tracker - need some help

Right now I'm collecting several item I can use for the MT but I still have some question regarding some of them. Here's a little list.

- I know I have to look for a Kango 426. But I've compared the 426 to a 327 and they look identical. Are they the same? Can I use the 327?

- The transformer; what brand/type transformer are we talking about. It would be helpfull to know what I'm looking for. I read something about a Matchbox transformer. Is this correct? Or does someone has a cast?

- The self timer box. Is this the clear box that comes with the Tiffen/Hama self timer?

- I am not familiar with a rotary switch. Anyone know where to find one, or tell me what it is?

- And finally, of course, the gauge meter. I know it's from a bloodpressure device. But where can I get one, or a casting?

If anyone can help me please do so. Any information would be appreciated.

EDIT:

For all you newbies out there (like me) who want to make a MT too, I hope this thread will be helpfull. The links mentioned by Applefish (#3) and Propologist (#12) are very, VERY usefull. Here I found all answers to my questions.
I'll try to post pictures of all parts needed, once I get them that is. Finding them is the biggest problem (and money of course).

Re: Building an Aliens Motion Tracker - need some help

the correct pressuregauge is the only item i don't have to build my tracker from all the original parts.

The correct one was identified years ago, but never made public unfortunately

If I remember correctly, the pump was harvested from a medical device.

The pressure gauge, or "pump widget" was found, not identified.
It did indeed come from inside a piece of medical equipment, but not one that could be identified itself, at least not enough to look for a purchase source.

Speaking personally, if it was ( Indeed, if any found item ) is identified, I hate when folk get all secretive and "I know something you don't know!" and I'm pretty sure the rest of the Legacy hold the same attitude
We find... We share.

Yeah, the "Graflex Effect"... But TBH, it's a necessary risk in this hobby IMO.
If someone can get multiples, and can sell them to the community for a reasonable price - Fair enough, keep the specifics quiet.
If not... Let folk know what they're looking for so they can keep an eye out for themselves.

Re: Building an Aliens Motion Tracker - need some help

cool thanks , it's a

Assess
Diagnostics
Sphygmomanometer
CE 0123

need to put it here just in case. it's very close and will do for mine. Not sure why anyone would want to hide any information from anyone about props. Seems like people would have more to do in their lives than to do that..i guess some people want to hold onto some level of fame or 15 minutes of it..lol

If you ever happen to find one (or two ) let me/us know. I still need one, or a cast.

BTW, my first catch of the day, a Hama viewer

You know, I've been thinking. Anyone recall that compass feature on the iPhone? Where is you turn, the compass turns with you? I would give my leg for a piece of software that would incorporate the animated radar circle as seen in the movie that would track what ever direction you aim it in.

That, and sound effects that sound more like the tracker beeps and less like a 19th century ticking clock.

you don't have to do that , just buy it on the aliencollection website for stupid money... I enjoy static props mainly because I'm not in the movie or chasing aliens. The " WOW" factor for bells and whistles left me years ago.

Hey, some props that are used in movies do have bells and whistles on them. I remember as a kid watching Aliens and how I could spot when the Motion Tracker had just a small blinking screen and when the tracking screen itself was being used. So if you want a screen accurate prop, you're not doing it any disservice by just putting a blinking light in the display.

And what's with this 'stupid money' business? Are you dissing me because I support those who offer things in the Junkyard?

Just bought an Olympus T28 calculating panel.
For those of you who need one, check out the Ebay store called: olympususa.
They have plenty of panels.

I believe the Matchbox transformer box came with one of those racing sets, the kind that have pistol grips that control the speed of the car.

The tick is good.
Ticking means there's nothing there.

Beep beep beep, means that you're about start moaning how you were short... for more weeks and out. Now ya gonna buy it on this rock.. four more weeks... Game over, man. Game over!!!

I recommend a gallant last stand, full of balls, bullets and LOTS of expletives!!

Do this before your girlfriend comes home and sees it
