Bender!

Hi all

not too sure if this is the right place to post this so please forgive me

this week i will start building a life size bender from futurama for my girlfriends birthday in 8 weeks.

im hoping to put sounds and have his head and eyes move if time allows me lol

too my knowledge there isnt one in australia atm so im pretty pumped to build this thing

i will be posting pics of my progress hopefully on a weekly basis

hey everyone

well finally started making the body, i got the body frame done in one night and hopefully can put some skins on it over the weekend

Cris of KimnCris built one that he wore to SDCC a few years back.

I knew i had seen WIP shots of a Bender Build before, it was driving me crazy trying to remember where i had saw it, thanks for the link!!

IMHO, the coolest use of a prop...ever!

ok guys here are the pics from the first few days and nights working on bender

ive started on the body first. it is made out of different sizes of styrene and will cut the door out after i have finished putting another skin on the body

i put on the final skin of the body today and started to cut out the door its comming along good

ive finally put the final skin on the body, i calculated the size and position of the door and slowly and lightly cut it out with a knife. once the door was out i filed the edges of the frames and put some more glue on them so it was more secure

If I were you I would focus on getting the front panel done first and get it sent out to a member who could get it signed by John Dimmagio (on the inside) at the Annaheim Comic Con!

ooo man that would be totally awesome only problem is im in australia and by the time i send it and everything it wont get back to me till after my gf birthday but its something im gona totally look into

i started on the weekend working on the top section of benders body, some people call it his neck ill just call it upper torso lol

i finally finished working on bender's top section during the week, i put 2 * 1mm plastic around the framework that i made previously

after i glued the top section to the body i started making the frame work for his head. you will notice that the bottom is cut out- this is so i can place wires up there for lights etc. i hope to have the head finished over the weekend and start on the eye box

definetly mate , thanks for that

lol we will bring him out as a dealer on our poker nights lol, she is having a fancy dress 21st later in the year so we could dress him up like super king - that would be pretty cool
