Hey guys, this is my first prop posting, hope ya like it!
Now for the break-down...
The bat is the largest size Louisville Slugger you can buy (size 0), and the first thing I did when I got home is started hitting it against trees, rolling it around on the ground, scraping rocks against it, basically just beating the hell out of it to give it a well-used look. Then, I scoured the net to find close-ups of the bat to see what names were on it, and I realized they were NOT carved, but simply written onto the bat, so I did the same, using all the names I could see in the photos, and adding on a few more myself to fill it in more since I couldnt see all sides of the bat from the pics. I added the names of the Jewish Basterds as well, since they would probably have signed it too. Using a swiss army knife, I carved dents and grooves into the bat to make it look like bits of skull had been wedged into it at some point, then moved onto painting. I used a fake blood application first, then put a light coating of brown paint on top to give it a "dried blood" look, and put dark red into the dents to further make it look like it had beaten more than a few Nazis to death. I also made a "fresh" splatter of blood on one side to make it look like it had been used recently, and sprayed the whole thing with a light seal to prevent the names and paint from fading or rubbing off.
