    Dec 28, 2007 - Anyone licensed a POTC BLACK PEARL ?? #1

I have the NECA ship but saw one on ebay that looks much better, but before I drop another wad o' dough, thought I'd see if anyone knows about any other officially licensed replica of this pirate ship, as I can't afford to keep buying these.

An earlier post mentioned HOT SHOTS may do one -- never heard of this company.

    Any info appreciated.

    I dont know of any.
I thought MR was supposed to be doing one for Dead Man's Chest but the time for that has sort of come and gone.

I've seen the other one on Ebay you mentioned, and while it looks quite a bit better than NECA's it still isn't acurate. It's missing all of the detail and the aft deck, the wheel, the skylight for the captains cabin, etc. Aside from that however, it seems to be a fairly close depiction of the ship from COTB.

That being said, I feel that the DMC, AWE, version of the ship is more true to how it should look. More sleek and streamlined instead of all square and bulky looking.

NECA's version also seems to be based on the COTB version. They left off the tops of the masts for some odd reason thought...

Probably based on the filming barge; in the films the tops of the masts and upper sails were added later by CGI.

I saw a really cool toy version at Sam's Club. I gave some serious thought to buying it, with a little work it would look great. I have no idea who made it...
