Is anybody interested in a "business" partnership...?

Just thought I would throw this out there. I think there might be some artists here who are itching to see their artwork become a reality, so why not have a contest of sorts? Artists could submit their concepts, the membership could vote to choose a winner, and that item could then be produced.

I'm sure this would be a long road with some problems, but I think it could be done.

I envision it being a small-ish handheld weapon that would not be incredibly expensive (less than $100) per copy. Make it as close to an at-cost project as possible with the winning designer getting one for free. Leave the design timeframe open for a few weeks (4?) then the voting phase, then production of the winning item? We could do this up real cool and everything with a limited edition RPF plaque and all.

I would be willing to volunteer my services on the production end.

Like I said, just a thought.

How about this for a prize?

I'll create a film built around the props we make and release it on you tube for everyoone to enjoy. ;)

Sound good??

:confused

:love huh???

Whoa, I love those ideas... Both the "contest" and the "prop-movies"...
I really appreciate this positive feedback guys :$
Ill try to do some new concept art ASAP...

That's a neat idea on the contest and even the films. I want to give the pistol/rifle/sword a shot. I've got the handle/reciever/chamber and barrel all mentally worked out. The blade would be cool in metal, might not be practical. I'll keep you posted on any progress I make, and of course I'd turn any production rights over to you. Sound okay?

Hey.
I AM excited... So, don't steal my words...

Whoot.
:lol

I'm also working on some new sketches (since this is almost the only "real" help I could give here), like the "holy arsenal" suggested by TimDrakeRobin for a "Constantine addition" and some other things.

If you want to suggest a genre or a "theme", I'm here ready with pencil & paper (& Photoshop + Illustrator :D ).

Oh, this is a sketch I did for a pulse/phase pistol some time ago...
Let me know what you think about it :)

Thanks MG. :)
And what do you think about those...

Now, since this could be an interesting project and partnership, I think (if anybody interested want, of course) we should make a small list of people and what they can do (small example to clarify my idea without using my bad English... :D )

UserName Field of interest
-Ramiel -Concept art, Blueprints, Supervisor...

And if you want, you can add a small example of your work (just a pic), but is is an extra...

This is just an example, but with something like this we can start to define a sort of "group"... I'm not the best "manager" here, so, if anyone wants to help this "organization" he will be more than welcome :)

You're obviously very talented. I like your stuff.

I would love to be a part of something like this but I am in the process of looking for another job. I also don't have time to machine things and don't know if I will have access to machines in my next job.

I am a Toolmaker. I CAN lend technical info. I can give advice on machining processes and metallurgy. I can basically lend support information for any machining process questions anyone would have. I also draw in AutoCAD in 2D and 3D and I am getting reacquainted with Solidworks. I program, edit, set-up, and operate a CNC mill. I heat treat tool steels and weld with stick arc, MIG, and TIG, including aluminum. I also do engineering and a host of other things.

Here's a picture of a custom lightsabre I designed and machined for myself. Some of the old timers here may remember it. The copper "switch" in the brass inlay actually flips back and forth, though I am not sure which way is on and which way is off. :p

ANY kind of help is more than welcome at the moment. :)

And real-life is always more important (I think...), so, don't worry if you can or can't do physically a thing, even a good advice is helpful (don't you think? ;) )

Oh, and be careful with your lightsaber, if you don't know which position is off and which is on, you could put somebody's eye out. :lol

BTW an AutoCAD help would be great ;)

Excellent ideas. Great concept. Not sure if I could be of any service, I used to be a carpenter, can use most tools, and can paint.

Or, can just stand on the sidelines and cheer.

:D

I'm kinda partial to the little hand cannon in the lower left corner. Have you drawn out any more views of it?

The "sci-fi" one?
I haven't done any other views (yet ;) )
I can do a front and top view if you want to give it a try, just let me know.

P.S.
Probably the quality of the sketches could be poor, because my scanner is giving me big troubles (but I still have Adobe Illustrator... :D )

Actually, I like the two revolvers as well. I think anything that we would want to produce should have as many views as possible, as well as a scale. Are you drawing these by hand, AI or combination? If you have it it AI, I can start going to laser-cutting very quickly once a scale is determined.

This is another, similar concept I have had my eye on.

As well as some of the stuff from Tabula Rasa: (big and expensive though)

But I really like the idea of original concepts. (nobody gets a C&D :thumbsup )
