Ultimaker here as well. Not my own, but my friends. We do some projects on it sometimes.

And Xeno, I think you mean millimeters and not centimeters? You could print C3PO scale 1:1 of it was centimeters! (Oh how I wish...)

Oh and we're just upgrading to a glass build plate!

I'm ordering an Airwolf XL 3D printer hopefully monday. Should have it around end of Jan. I'm not entirely sure what all I'll be using it for but at the moment bits and pieces of my Iron Man VII. I don't have the option to make casts and molds being in a condo so it'll help a lot for that kind of thing. I just need to find models for what I need (any suggestions?). Once I'm done that I could probably do some printing depending on the project and the size of the piece etc. I'm in Calgary Alberta Canada - I know there aren't many resources in Canada yet in regards to this kind of stuff.

Getting my printer calibrated too forever and it still needs tweaking. The yellow PLA I got wants a LOT more heat. 210-215c.

Solidoodle 2 here! Still tweaking it to get insane results but it does what I need!

A follow up, I've gotten my Solidoodle 3 running alright. Still a few calibrations and modifications on the docket

I was so close to pulling the trigger on one of those back when it was in kickstarter... How do you like it? Have you built any thing besides the sample parts? I have seen a lot of people print the objects that they give you as samples but have not seen much else printed on them.


BTW, I have access to both a Dimension BST1200 and a Makerbot 2x at work.

I've got the Makerbot replicator 2 & the cubex
The foundation was 3D printed. but you'l have a hard time seeing any evidence of that with the amount of sculpting that when over top of it.

Just finished building a MendelMax last night - next up calibration.

At work there's a Makerbot 2, and three Cubex 3 printers.

I've got a Replicator (original).

BTW: I've helped another RPF member by printing him multiple sets of parts in exchange for a finished piece in return. (that is: I print raw prints, ship them to him, he ships me back one finished prop from the pieces... it was a good deal for everyone, and I'd do it again)

How important is 100 microns ? Does it really need less sanding/finishing? Is 200 microns okay? Is 200 more work ?

I don't even like 100 microns, 25 microns is ideal.
